How much would you pay for a fursuit?
« on: June 19, 2017, 06:38:24 pm »
This is because a) I'm curious as to what range people have in mind, and b) I may possibly be considering selling a lightly used halfsuit (with digigrade legs) and need to gauge what I should expect.

Specifically, what would you pay for a head, for a partial, halfsuit, and fullsuit?
Would you buy a suit secondhand?
Does who the maker of the suit is play much of a role in your choice?

Well, I can't even consider such, but if I ever had the chance, I'd pay good money for one. At most I'd think $1500 is a fair price for just a suit (full that is). I'd be happy to buy a secondhand suit, if it fit me. I personally would make my own if I ever got the chance though.

I honestly have no limit on how much I'd pay for a suit, I'd either save or make payments. I'd be willing to pay a few thousand for the perfect suit.

1 - As said, I have no limit. If I like the suit/suit maker enough I'll pay anything. Pay good money and you normally get a good suit. One I'm looking at is gonna be about $2000(maybe more idk yet)
2 - I might if I really like the suit, although unless its a head I don't have a lot of options since I'm plus sized and not a lot of people make suits to fit plus sized people.
3 - The maker plays a huge a part in my choice, cause 1)The maker determines the style and why I want to commission them in the first place and 2)Whether the makers has a good style or not if they are known for bad customer service I won't commission them.

I have no limit honestly
If I find a maker I definitely want a suit from I'd pay anything
There's also payment plans for suits sometimes which is legit

I'd pay anywhere from $500-2000, though maybe more if I really love it. Though right now I'm a poor college student where anything above $10 is expensive, so I don't think I'll be getting one any time soon, lol

I'd pay as much as I have as long as it correlates with quality. Probably a max of $2500-$3000? (in several years, could never afford one now)
If the character was cool, price was right, and the suit was high quality I'd buy a used fursuit.

One of the things I wouldn't ever do is buy something low quality because the price is a lot cheaper, it would feel like a waste of money. I'd rather wait then get something that wasn't worth it. The maker really matters to me, I need to see examples of previous work and reviews before buying. Makers who are somewhat "famous" also have a reputation to uphold, they would be more likely to be reliable.

I personally have no limit. I'd rather save longer and pay more for something of quality them limit myself because I want something cheap. I personally prefer custom costumes over second hand ones but there's definitely a market for second hand ones out there ^^

Depending on the quality, I wouldn't pay anything TOO ridiculous, unless it's an extremely good quality one. I dunno, I have no idea how fursuit pricing works at this age, honestly.

I would pay anything for a fursuit, but probably not exceeding $8000 for a fursuit. I'm totally ok with paying $5000 for one, but of course once I get the money (which would require a lot of budgeting) I personally don't mind spending money that I would have used on stuff that wouldn't last.

I wouldn't pay nearly as much as most people charge/pay. It's absolutly ridiculous, I don't care who made it or what kind of quality it is. This is purely my opinion, but why waste all that money on a COSTUME that happens to look like your character, that you could be using for more useful things that will actually contribute to your survival, such as food, water, etc.? Seems pointless to me tbh. Maybe it's because my 'family' is pretty poor, but can you eat a fursuit once all is said and done and you've wasted all your money on it, and you now can't afford to buy things you actually NEED?

Again, this is just my opinion. I guess some other people have much more money than my household, but still, my opinion stands regardless.

If it's quality and proven to be durable, I'd spend about 700 dollars, give or take. I'd never buy one from a large maker. Too expensive. I understand that some materials and custom fur are expensive, but jeez, 3000+ US dollars??? No thank you.

^ It's a hobby. Most hobbies cost money. When you commission a fursuit, you're paying for the materials and work - and it takes months to make a suit. Some people have the money to buy a suit, some don't. Saying fursuits shouldn't cost a reasonable amount for the materials is like saying artists don't deserve good prices for their work. Higher quality = higher pay. People put work and dedication into fursuits and enjoy wearing them.

Anyways, I'd pay up too 1.5k-2k for a suit if I had the money. The suit I plan on getting doesn't cost much as it's from a friend and she's a beginner and wants practice. I'll just be paying for the materials and shipping. It all depends on the quality and time. I don't think I'd buy a second hand one, though. Since I rather have one of my sona. And the maker doesn't matter, as long as they're trustworthy

Edit: just gonna edit this cause I really don't wanna clog up the thread. Yes, there are cheaper alternatives, but making suit takes time and talent that some just don't have. And 'cheaper' suit makers could be not so trusted worthy I guess.

What I was trying to say is that there are cheaper alternatives to the mainstream makers. I think it's more beneficial to make your own. It's cheaper and you can claim you made it yourself. And it's fun.
