Born This Way
« on: February 21, 2011, 02:29:20 pm »
Okay, yes it has been out for almost a week now. But overall I want you guys' opinion on it.

Lad Gaga's new song "Born This Way"

I personally love it, although a lot of people don't. It does have a lot of elements from Madonna's "Express Yourself" but it stands alone with a great message.   Video here > http://youtu.be/Z4a8QtvOkBQ

LYRICS
--------

[Intro]
It doesn't matter if you love him,
Or capital H-I-M
/Just put your paws up
'cause you were born this way, baby

[Verse 1]
My mama told me when I was young
We are all born superstars

She rolled my hair and put my lipstick on
In the glass of her boudoir

"there's nothin wrong with lovin who you are"
She said, "'cause he made you perfect, babe"

"so hold your head up girl and you'll go far,
Listen to me when I say"

[Chorus]
I'm beautiful in my way
'cause god makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

[Post-chorus]
Ooo there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
Baby I was born this way
Ooo there ain't no other way
Baby I was born-
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

Don't be a drag - just be a queen
Don't be a drag - just be a queen
Don't be a drag - just be a queen
Don't be!

[Verse 2]
Give yourself prudence
And love your friends
Subway kid, rejoice your truth

In the religion of the insecure
I must be myself, respect my youth

A different lover is not a sin
Believe capital h-i-m (hey hey hey)
I love my life I love this record and
Mi amore vole fe yah (love needs faith)

[Chorus]
I'm beautiful in my way
'cause god makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

Ooo there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
Baby I was born this way
Ooo there ain't no other way
Baby I was born-
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

[Bridge]
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Whether you're broke or evergreen
You're black, white, beige, chola descent
You're lebanese, you're orient
Whether life's disabilities
Left you outcast, bullied, or teased
Rejoice and love yourself today
'cause baby you were born this way

No matter gay, straight, or bi,
Lesbian, transgendered life
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to survive
No matter black, white or beige
Chola or orient made
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to be brave

[Chorus]
I'm beautiful in my way
'cause god makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

[Outro]
I was born this way hey!
I was born this way hey!
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way hey!

I was born this way hey!
I was born this way hey!
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way hey!

I don't even know where to start with this song.
I love the lyrics, and the messege behind it.
And I love how Lady Gaga can really put herself behind this song, and being as big a name as she is, how far this song will spread.

The lyrics are great and so is the message but this ain't the kind the music i like. I'm more rock but don't blame me because i was born this way  :fox-:):

this song is amazing, and if you watched the grammys, she talked about her inspiration for this song, i love it, and i does anyone else think that there is a fur reference in the third line? i know she is talking about all of her -monsters- but i thought it is still a lil funny

ok, im about to say something that was almost well thought out.

IT MAY NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.
/Just put your paws up
love that line. ^^

she refers to god a lot in there (H-I-M is gaga for god, yeah?) and i guess thats ok. religion usually bugs me a little, but im trying to look past that, and i guess i dont really mind. im just always a little bugged by it. im weird.

i like the message of the song a lot, and i think LG was really bold with it, especially these lines right here
No matter gay, straight, or bi,
Lesbian, transgendered life
because i like it when artists are willing to go there

i think it really speaks to me, cause one of the few morals i really stick to and believe in is tolerance and acceptance and stuff, ya know? and i think thats in there. the other one is about how you see yourself, and thats definitely in there to.

im not going to bother commenting on how the song sounds, because im just more concerned about the lyrics
but if you really want my opinon, (highlight)i thought it was ok, but i dont like it. definitely not my favorite gaga song(/highlight)

those of you concerned about gaga ripping off madonna, gaga says madonna likes the song. and if shes ok with it, then, you know, yeah.

and i doubt thats a furry reference, but i wish!
hey look.

i'm not here.

I love The Gaga anyway, but THIS SONG <3

I can't get over how anthemic it is.

She refers to god a lot in there (H-I-M is gaga for god, yeah?)

Actually, 'HIM' is a biblical way of refering to God. (Which is why she says 'Capital H, etc., since it was always capitalized to show it as a formal pronoun)

i know, but thats not nearly as fun as saying "gaga for god". ^^'
course, i always thought it was Him, not HIM.

I thought that by HIM, she meant the devil. Hence the opening lyric "It doesn't matter whether you love Him, or capital HIM".

I for one find the video awful. Disgusting sometimes, scary at others, and overall awful.
But the song is pretty good, I think. It sounds okay, and imo the lyrics are AWESOME. She sends a msg against discrimination (race, gender and sexuality - she mentions them all) and she does it pretty well. It's quite inspiring, really. Kinda like Firework - Katy Perry (which also has a great video).

Honestly?
This song and video together disturbed and offended me so much (particularly near the start), that I've made a song condemning her. I played around with the "don't be a drag, just be a queen" sample together with some other samples (half of them of my friend Colin.)
Sorry if I sound so pissed, but I really was when I made it.
