Dia De Los Muertos
« on: November 02, 2004, 05:33:17 pm »
Day Of The Dead for the ones who can't read that. Anyone participate with this ritual?  Well, if you do then you know what it is about. Haha. For those who don't it starts from our Halloween date ( Oct. 31'st)   to November 2nd (All souls day)  It's a time to honor your family and those who have died. Some bake or cook treats of those who have passed on and leave them at their graves along with treats and decoratives. I made some skulls with straw hats with foam and straw. I will be making other stuff for my fellow dead family.

The extent of my knowledge on the topic is from my Spanish class, so I'm no expert, but it's a day to remember and honor the dead, especially members of one's family who have passed on.  I believe they honor them by leaving out things which they enjoyed in life, like foods, pictures, or even toys if it was a child, and their spirit returns for that one day to rejoin their living loved ones.  But I may be wrong; don't hold me to that explanation.

All cultures have interesting holidays.  Black people don't have anything interesting.  T.T

I don't celebrate it my self, but I don't celebrate much.
The only holidays I celebrate are

Christmas
Easter
Thanksgiving
And my birthday. sorta

I don't know if there are any Cherokee holidays I can celebrate.

Then why not make some kind of day? Thats what me and my friends have been doing and getting a bit of the public invovled but they still think me and my buddies are still plain "werid" If you need any ideas for making up some kind of random celebration you always got me to ask for odd ideas :P
