Childhood comics?
« on: November 06, 2006, 05:39:37 pm »
Similar to Lynsey's "Childhood shows" post. Does anyone have any comics that they read throughout childhood?

I have three that I really followed...

The Beano
The Broons and
Oor Wullie

I'm not sure if anyone non-British knows about the Beano but I'd be REALLY suprised if anyone outside UK knows about the other two, which I still read XD!

Asterix, Calvin, Donald Duck, Avengers, Spiderman, Garfield, Tom and Jerry, thats about it of the ones I remember.
Eddy~I do know them, not very well but I've seen some routes here and there on refrigirators and such.
"Life's journey is not about arriving at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy Shit, what a ride""
"Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means you are two steps ahead"
"Invoke not common sense, for it is not common"
"A life without joy is a wasted one, and you got but one to waste."
"To touch the clouds, you need to reach for the stars"

I never read comic books until I discoverd Jhonen Vasquez's work 5 years ago. I wouldn't recommend his comics for young children.

It's nice though to have a routine like that.

Oh yeah the Beano was one I read from time to time just not always.

I remember the days when yeh could buy the Beano and still have enough money left from yer pound for a big bag of sweeties!

I had the cards, the tv programs and all that, but I still read the Beano religiously (and ocassionally still do)!

Calvin and Hobbes was my most favorite comic and I remember waiting weeks at the library when a Calvin and Hobbes book would finally be returned ^.^

Other then that I read Garfeild from time to time and that was about it for my childhood comics I loved :/
