After I finish my current project I think I will make one for myself.
If you are making it don't be afraid to ask for help!
I made the mistake of not getting any help the first time D:

Also if it's your first try, try not to use to many expensive materials
Now don't get fun fur or anything but just use the high quality stuff when you're ready for it.

If I can scape up the money, I eventually plan on commissioning a half-suit.

I want to commission a halfsuit, but it's not going to be for a while. Hopefully before the end of senior year, though. I've got 2 years to save, and I'm also taking donations.[/joke]

I love fursuits! Not the super toony ones though...but its really fun to dress up, I've always loved costumes :P
I'd rather wear paws/footpaws/tail/mask though...so I can still wear mah clothes :P]

I'm currently make a half suit :3 The foam was the most expensive thing so far. 15 bucks for 2 yards. Haha. im making accessories/nose/claws/teeth from sculpey I already have :p Now I'm searching for relatively cheap faux fur to finish my suit...and the perfect fur is like 20 a yard...I need 3 D:<

I suggest to go to any local fabric store, sometimes there are some that sell fabric by the pound, instead of yard, which is sooo much cheaper. But its a hit or miss in those kind of places :P

I am super happy!
My parents asked me to do some cleaning, and I came across faux fur... I would estimate maybe a square foot?
Well, I am planning on measuring that out, as well as some base material, and maybe getting a set of paws knocked out.

I've been considering trying to make my own, the person who I usually talk commissions with (he done my paws, tail, ears and my collar) actually said he'd teach me some tricks! :D

Just use old gloves! :P I did that, and put foam around the fingers for a thicker look. Worked like a charm. :3

:D, Question how much does it cost in supplies to make a full fur suit and about how long? On average I mean, like a average complexity/etc.

I've heard estimates ranging from $100 to $500 for materials, depending on what you use and where you buy from.  However, a fursuit is an extremely complex sewing project that requires a lot of skill, and a lot of time, hence why the average fursuit purchase involves a year or so of lead-time.  And, if you want things like visible muscle definition or digitgrade legs, or a head that doesn't look deformed, you have to be pretty good at sculpting too.

Not trying to discourage you, but making a fursuit isn't a casual project, and there's a reason almost no one makes their own.

I see, I've seen them, they look quite hard to make, I've been looking at the tutorials/etc on how to make them, and well it seems insane >.<!!! Just wasn't sure on pricing or time for making it though... I don't have any hopes in making one now (Budget, time, etc), but for future knowledge. Bleh purchasing one is quite the amount as well, but it saves you the trouble of the difficult work.

Izzy, except for the fact that I assume you are looking for a design based off your fursona, and it is not exactly a common one...
I would take a look at furbuy.
Pretty much the Ebay for furs.

You can find some suits there that are very nice, and don't cost you an arm and a leg.

Not trying to discourage you, but making a fursuit isn't a casual project, and there's a reason almost no one makes their own.

At most, depending on the time or whether you're looking for a full suit or partial, it can be done in pretty much a week or so. But it also fully depends on the design of the character you're making. It's essential to draw a rough draft of what your fursuit will end up looking like. Also take note that it will maintain a fixed expression, so try picking a face that'll keep modest appeal.

Like I really dislike fursuits with mouths that are agape or have an eyebrow raised or something, but it's what you're comfortable with, really.
