By South American Metal, do you mean, like, Sepultura?

Not really, I mean more like bands that use South American traditional instruments in their music.

Diablo Swing Orchestra is coming out with a new album and just posted a new song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2mZVOd0jWY
It is a masterpiece.

Samurai metal...hnnnnnng already hooked.

And though they are technically just labeled alternative, System Of A Down has been known for some very odd and different stuff. Quite fun to listen to some of their lyrics too.

Hey all! Here are some more bands I have found since my last post.

MORE Samurai Metal: Persefone, a band from the tiny country of Andorra which plays music similar to the other Samurai metal band, Whispered, but with better guitar riffs and less oriental influence. Sadly, both of the bands have equally terrible vocals.

MORE Ghost Metal: The Vision Bleak is a heavy gothic metal band which is mostly like the other ghost metal band, Carach Angren, without the black metal influence. Operatic vocals, oriental riffs and instruments and symphonic keyboards are all present here and the annoying screaming is kept to a minimum.

Flamenco Metal: Spanish guitars that sound like they came right out of one of the Zorro movies combined with heavy metal? Yes, they have this too. The oh so originally named 'Flametal' combines these two styles quite well; although the quality isn't great the instrumentation, especially with the flamenco guitar, is excellent and quite fun.

Hoedown Metal: Devil in the Kitchen, a band based in Boston, Massachusetts which jammed with an electric fiddle. The quality on the guitars is pretty terrible, but everything else is excellent. It is completely instrumental and constantly entertaining; I was never bored by this band and their fast-paced blend of metal and fiddles. Sadly they have disbanded, but what they left behind was a very enjoyable and unique legacy.

Egyptian Metal/Middle Eastern Metal: Surprisingly this is a subgenre which is kind of large, with bands such as Nile and Orphaned Land reaching near-mainstream popularity. This genre is classified by Arabic-sounding melodies and instruments, and most of these bands are quite good. Other bands that are less popular in this genre include Melechesh and Al Lat as well as Amaseffer, a band which in my opinions has produced one of the best concept albums ever written.

Halloween Metal: Dance Club Massacre plays crappy low-fi deathcore but with the interesting addition of a keyboard player who uses his instrument to produce creepy melodies which bring to mind B-Movie soundtracks and music heard at those haunted attractions that pop up every Halloween. The metal itself is terrible, especially the vocalist, but the keyboard makes it quite the novelty.

D&D Metal: Dungeons and Dragons metal, it exists. Two bands (as far as I am aware of) called Adavant and Dethlehem play this style, both of which play a melodic, folky kind of death metal and base their lyrics entirely around satirizing the game of Dungeons and Dragons. Neither are amazing bands but they are both pretty funny if you are into roleplaying games.

Batsh*t Insane Metal: Yeah, so this isn't an actual genre, but there are some bands that are just so insane you can't help but sit there thinking "What the hell were they smoking?" the entire time you listen to it. Mr. Bungle, Carnival in Coal, Fantomas, Pin Up Went Down and Sigh are five bands which instantly come to mind when talking about this; they are infamous for using a ridiculous amount of musical styles and samples and often go through several genres of music in the course of a single song. Mr. Bungle was the best at this and had one of the greatest vocalists in metal history, Mike Patton, who can somehow manage to sing nearly every style of music the band decides to play. Fantomas is another side project of his and they are both quite good at keeping your attention throughout; not a single second is boring and you can never tell what is coming next. Pin Up Went Down and Carnival in Coal are both French bands that, while amusing, don't really bring anything new. Sigh, however, is an excellent band from Japan which has some of the best instrumentalists in metal and constantly experiments and tries something new with each album. They even have a saxophone player! If you like completely insane yet still complex and thoughtful music, check out these bands, especially Mr. Bungle and Sigh.

So, there you go. Enjoy!

Alestorm is a pretty good band. I have 3 albums on my ipod by them.  I think the song that makes me laugh the most has to be Midget saw. I mean c'mon, how can you not laugh at a song about a midget killing a monkey with a shoe!

HammerFall is a good metal band, their genre is kind of like Medieval Metal if i had to classify it.  Lots of dragons, templars and Knights in their music   :fox-:):

I wonder, has anyone mentioned "The Bunny The Bear"?
They're a post-hardcore/experimental rock kind of band with a little electro-pop mixed in every now and then. A friend showed me a couple of their songs and I have been hooked.

Some of my favorites by them, going from least to greatest in interest:

5.) Sheep
4.) Kids (The Bunny The Bear cover)
3.) April 11
2.) Ocean Floor
1.) Aisle

A couple of interesting things about them is, one, the two lead vocalists and best friends always wear animal masks while performing, one a rabbit and the other a bear, hence the name of the group. Another thing is the fact that the smaller of the two singers,Mathew Tybor a.k.a. The Bunny, is the one doing all the screams and growls, while the taller and thicker one, Chris Hutka a.k.a. The Bear, is the one who sings the "clean" vocals, and usually at a higher pitch.

Industries of the Blind

Best. Post-rock. Band. Ever. Their tracks are few, and as far as I know they've only released one album, but... my gawd, when I first heard their stuff - tears, literally tears. Streaming down my face.

Take a listen to "I Only Wanted To Make You Something Beautiful"

Oh Dethklok I remember only one song lol, I tamper with the evidence at the murder site of odin, Static-x I remember from a punisher album lol, and I LOVE DWP but kinda boring since he screams almost the same way in every song/album gets annoying time to time

It's Magic by Ved Beuns Ende, a legendary avant-garde black metal band. It's possibly the weirdest song I've heard, and I love it.

Tittentattenteksti by Solefald is also pretty dang weird.

I wonder, has anyone mentioned "The Bunny The Bear"?

I like them. Aisle was my first song.

Hammerbox anyone?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYsH6Q_Um9Q&list=PL02A2830683B7C6F7&index=45&feature=plpp_video

Seattle grunge band formed in '89. Put out 2 albums, and then was dropped by the record label for another grunge band from seattle. (Nirvana anyone?)

Die Antwoord.
I've never experienced any kind of electronic group like this. It's like the Prodigy and Rammstein had a child in South Africa. (Because the group is from some new counterculture movement in South Africa. Zef)
