Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead review
« on: January 25, 2012, 07:10:27 pm »
Hi there again, time for another weird movie review. Yeah, maybe I'll start doing these regularly; sucks that Megavideo is gone but whatever. Today I'm going to look at Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead which is possibly the oddest parody movie I have ever seen. Unlike other parody movies which just bombard audiences with pop culture references, childish jokes and over-the-top action, Poultrygeist...well, it does that too. But it's about zombie chickens taking over a KFC ripoff, so that has to count for something. Oh, and it's a musical.

The plot is that some nerdy kid named Arbie (oh, just thought I should mention, everyone is named after a fast food chain)  finds that his girlfriend Wendy who went to college has turned into a lesbian over the summer. Yeah, see where this is going? She is protesting the construction of a fast food joint with a large mob (and her girlfriend) so Arbie gets a job at the chicken joint to upset her. It turns out the resturaunt was built on an ancient Indian burial ground (as porn star Ron Jeremy is so helpful to burst in and tell us, seriously I'm not kidding). The rest of the movie is just a clusterf**k of random musical numbers, bad jokes and the occasional extremely graphic kill (although the movie has a low budget; some of the effects are decent) In the end, Arbie and his ex must face off against a giant chicken monster and participate in a sing-along before a fight to the death with the chicken zombies. Who will win? Will Arbie get his girlfriend back? Does anyone really care?

This movie is definitly a movie you should check out if you're looking for a good laugh. Although there are some graphic scenes (VERY graphic...this movie would be NC-17), it is good at what it tries to accomplish. Although none of the actors can really sing, the musical numbers are a lot of fun and keep the movie flowing (strange, because usually musical numbers slow the movie down); and the actors aren't that bad (some are actually fairly good). On a final note; this movie has a lot of topless women :P

I'll leave the verdict up to you. Thank you for reading :)

This was an awesome movie,  mostly because I like horror films like this.  It's a great movie by the same people who made The Toxic Avenger.
