Aha, we'd become gods or something...
the first self portraits would be drawn by furries lol.
"What is it?"
"It's a ... thing."
"Is it?"
"Yes."

By people turning into furries, you mean Physically or just everyone converting to the concept of furries?
You don't get "tails, fur and everything" when you convert to the concept.
Or at least I didn't... :?

I think we would disappear mostly (Why have a fandom about yourself...it doesn't make too much sense), though some of the furries might become semi-famous being the only ones with training in drawing portraits of the new forms.

"Life's journey is not about arriving at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy Shit, what a ride""
"Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means you are two steps ahead"
"Invoke not common sense, for it is not common"
"A life without joy is a wasted one, and you got but one to waste."
"To touch the clouds, you need to reach for the stars"

If everyone in the world was a fur, there wouldn't be a need for a fandom. That's like having a "human" fandom right now.

The thought of a furry religion also scares me.

Then you probably haven't heard of the furry jesus, you'll find him somewhere in either the normal wiki or wikifur.

Encyclopedia dramatica is good for a "lol" every now and then. Once you can get past your defensive reflexes, of course.
