LIST OF FT MEMBER TUTORS
« on: October 18, 2012, 10:39:48 pm »
This thread is for announcing who can help the community out with school work, just post who you are, how you can be contacted, best times to reach you, and the subjects you can help out with. Here is the list thus far!

NightF0x:
I'm NightF0x and I'm Majoring in Physics accompanied by a Minor in Astronomy. I can tutor Mathematics in the range from elementary counting up to Calculus 2, and I'm also available for Physics help as well. I can be contacted via MSN and I'm usually on from 9-12 MST. I tutor as a job, so I am very familiar with tutoring every kind of person. There is no such thing as a bad student! My tools include my Bamboo Tablet, TI-NSpire CAS Edition, Pencils, Paper, and my noggin! My resources are the following list of books:
http://www.amazon.com/Calculus-Graphical-Numerical-Algebraic-NATL/dp/0132014084 (My AP Calc Teacher helped out with the book being published. It's by far my favorite. I use it to refer to Calc 1 Concepts)
http://www.amazon.com/Calculus-Differential-Equations-Dale-Varberg/dp/0132306336/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1350617214&sr=1-1&keywords=varberg+calculus+9th (My current text of use. VERY resourceful! Lots of good information that I use to help with Calc 2 concepts)
http://www.amazon.com/Practical-Algebra-Self-Teaching-Guide-Second/dp/0471530123/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1350617240&sr=1-1&keywords=practical+algebra+a+self-teaching+guide.+2nd+edition+by+peter+selby+and+steve+slavin (If you need help from Algebra 1-Pre Calculus, I use this book to help)

Zenith:
I will teach you everything you need to know about playing the guitar!  Everything.  Fo real.  I'm an electric guitar player at heart, but I am well versed in classical and acoustic guitar as well as most musical styles.  I am mostly focused on the technical and performing aspects of playing the guitar but I know a little music theory myself if you need help with that.  If you get me stumped I have my own private tutors I can ask as well X>  I know a whole lot about guitar gear; anything about guitar effects, pedals, strings, amps, cables, repair, and more.  I don't know much about rack units and I'm not the best at recording and studio stuff though; you should go to Lancifur for that.

Now the tuition is 60k a year.  Actually it's free, so don't be afraid to ask for help!

I don't post a lot but I promise that I go on FT every single day, so if you want help I'll see it for sure.  PM's are fine too.

Alex Galloway:
If anyone needs help with a wide variety of programs, i can assist in these:
-Paint
-Paint.net
-GIMP
-Photoshop (only used CS3 and CS4)
-General artistic tips
-Terragen 1+2
aswell as:
Modding
-Command and conquer red alert 1, Tiberian Sun, Red alert 2
-Team fortress 2 (servers too!)
-Minecraft (Servers too!)

I can also make custom planets and environments for projects, stories, or fun

In addition, I have studied numerous computer parts and can assist in assembly, upgrading, or simply choosing computer parts or giving a second opinion about them.

Alnix:
I'm a Sequential Art major, so I can help extremely wide variety of art-based topics especially those relate to communicating through art.

If you need any help with storytelling, creating comic pages, character design, various traditional mediums, or just general drawing-based topics (like perspective, anatomy, color theory, etc.) then I'm your guy.

I'm happy to help in anyway that I can.

You can always send me PM here or a message on Skype. My username is shikon_toki. I may not always get back  to you right away because I'm quite busy, but I'll get back to you soon.

Natasha:
I mostly just do behind-the-scenes maintenance stuff here nowadays, but this board is a great idea, and I'll offer my knowledge if anyone needs it.

I currently work as a high-level web developer for a federal agency, so anything related to websites is a good thing to ask me, whether it's front-end design (especially accessibility and industry best practices), or back-end programming (I work in PHP primarily, but I'm also familiar with Javascript and Cold Fusion).

I'm also knowledgeable about earth science/geology, it's a big passion of mine, and probably would be my career if I had been able to go back to university a few years ago.  I'm an amateur radio operator, so I'm pretty familiar with anything related to radio transmissions and the properties of radio waves.  And, while simple math isn't my strength, I use a lot of low-to-mid-level algebra and geometry theory on a daily basis in my work.

It's unlikely to come up in the context of schoolwork, but I'm well-versed in the theory and practicality in photography, too.  Oh, and while I Am Not A Lawyer, my workplace is rapidly increasing my knowledge of the law, especially when related to computers, mobile devices, or the internet.

That's probably about all I'm helpful for in a board like this.  Email is the best way to contact me, it's harder for me to lose track of our conversation.  Short answers will likely get a quick response, while longer answers or something that requires research may take a day or two.

Gage:
What I study
I'm currently taking a Level 3 Applied Science course in college. This usually entails that I extensively study a wide range of both social and natural sciences. It can include subjects such as:

  • Microbiology
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology
  • Forensics
  • Psychology and Criminology
  • Mathematics in Science
  • Public Perceptions of Science
  • Genetics
  • Chemistry

What I specialize in
But out of those, I would have to say that my strongest subjects are probably Microbiology, Genetics and Human Anatomy/Physiology. I consider Biology to be a major passion of mine, so it's no surprise why I would choose to highlight them. It's actually something I'm interested in making a career in. So if you required any help, Biology would be my strongest department. Though I'd still be willing to help you out with other subjects related to science, if you ever needed help in them. I can't promises perfect help advice, but I will certainly try my best to help in anyway that I can.

How to contact me
You can contact me via Skype, MSN, or through Email; they're the best options for me.

Varlen:
I'll wave my flag about, for the sake of it.

I'll likely take a fair while to respond, but History is my thing. 20th Century European is my preferance, specialising in (you guessed it!) mid-late WWII, though I've been tinkering in early WWII, WWI, the Sino-Japanese war and the Pacific Theater. I also know more than I ought to about 1916-1920 Russian Federation/USSR, the Cold War and a touch on English/British monarchs, though not a whole not. And a little about the Napoleonic Wars era (1790-1815) and Classical History/Medieval Europe. However, I have ready and easy access to information on, well, most of written history, so give me a shout and I'll see what I can find =3

Like I said, it will take me time to respond, regular access to the internet is not possible for me, but I get on several times a week, usually for an hour or so a day once or twice and a few minuites most days that aren't Sunday. I keep wierd hours because I live in the country that probably stole yours from the natives, before you stole it/asked for it back.

Larsen:
Anyone need a personal vocal coach? Although I doubt many would need tutoring in singing, I'll lend a hand if anyone needs help on brushing up their voice.

Caper:
I can offer assistance in philosophy if required, I've studied multiple philosophies and religions over the past few years. Name a philosophy, I can state its tenants and principals.

Whiskey:

I'm a writer, poet, and know almost every recent YA fantasy book.
I also know a ton about halo.

TheIrishHusky:

Snowfox:
I'm always available to help with any maths or science (Chemistry, Biology and Physics) up to an As level standard.
Just pop me a question and I'll do my best to answer as quick as I can, I'm usually on everyday :D.

alyx:
I can help with Business Management at SQA Higher level.

Blaidd:
I'm not much of an expert on anything, but I'll offer what I have.

I've been in a variety of art classes and several art clubs, and I'm also self taught in a lot of areas, so I can help you out in just about anything that has to do with traditional art. Anything from simple drawing and sketching, to painting (acrylic, watercolor, oil paints), to even sculpting. Iv'e also been in a few digital media and commercial art classes, so I know a bit about that if anyone needs any help.

Besides art, I'm also a bit of a writer. I've edited a lot of stories in my time, and I know quite a lot about story outlining, character design and development, sentence structure and flow, vocabulary, and just about anything that has to do with writing stories.

I have been in two psychology classes, am currently in an AP psychology class, and am going into sociology. If you need help with understanding a part of the human brain, want to know who Freud was and/or what he did, or would like to understand why people do some of the things they do, I do have knowledge in this area.

As a side note, I also study philosophy in my own time, so I might be able to chip in on a thing or two about that.

Also, I'm a bit of a cartoon enthusiast and animation buff. I don't know if that kind of information is helpful to anyone, but I'm offering what I got.

Lat but not least, I dabble in a little bit of photography. Another thing to consider.

Skype, (which might be best): Blaidd.llywd
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/blaidd.llywd
PM if you'd like, or you can ask for my number (depends if I know you well enough to trust you).

  • VEX Robotics & Programing for VEX Robots

Contacting:
You can easily get a hold via email at: connorball1@aol.com
My Skype account is also: Minimoose1441
Or message me on FurryTeens. I'm in PST so the best time to contact me would be between 3pm-8pm PST or 11pm-4am UTC. Of course it doesn't matter what time you message me, I'll get back to you eventually.

Feel free to contact me at all if you want to know anything about the above matters! :lol-fox:

Sparrow;
Biology - received dux of grade 11 in 2012, achieved between A- / A+ in every piece of work for 2012, 92% in my exam for 2012, etc. (I know my biology stuff, ok.)
Ecology/Zoology is my strong point especially as animals and the environment are some of my main interests. I have a lot of background knowledge with animals / am studying to become a zoologist, so i'm pretty passionate and willing to discuss and assist anyone who needs help in this topic, as well as biology in general.
Japanese - studied Japanese since grade 8, maintained B grades in all my work, have been to Japan for 2 weeks studying the language and culture. I have a lot of background knowledge as well as learned knowledge in both the language and culture. I know all the basic such as kana/most basic kanji/grammar and sentence construction/phrases/etc etc and an ever-expanding vocabulary. As stated before, I know a lot about the culture (particularly regarding religion, lifestyles, cuisine, and youth culture) and have been to Japan.
I'm not interested/I don't have time for teaching people from scratch, but if you need help with schoolwork I'd be happy to help. you can send me PMs here or contact me on my dA or FA, and i'll give you my skype.

I can offer assistance in philosophy if required, I've studied multiple philosophies and religions over the past few years. Name a philosophy, I can state its tenants and principals.

I'm not much of an expert on anything, but I'll offer what I have.
