SLC Punk
« on: November 17, 2012, 12:34:34 pm »
So I'm going to give a review to one of my favorite indie movies ever (coincidentally made in my hometown), SLC Punk. SLC Punk is the story of two punks, Steve-O and Heroin Bob (Ironically named so due to his fear of needles), living in the most conservative area in the United States. The movie chronicles their adventures across Salt Lake City and shows what "tribes" (social groups) existed in the mid 1980's Salt Lake Area. There were punks, hicks, new-wavers, mods, and nazi punks. The story discusses relationships they have, people they knew, and the eventuality that being punk is just another passing fad, and they were all along just posers. My favorite elements of the film are the philosophical journeys that both Steve-O and Heroin Bob go on. The movie subtly discusses Nihilism, Anarchy, Existentialism, and the eventuality that you will die one day. I don't want to spoil the story, so I highly recommend that you see this movie.
