dubstep?
« on: December 04, 2012, 09:11:09 pm »
a lot of people have either told me that dubstep is not real music or that its the best music in the world
i would just like to know what you guys think about it and if you listen to some , could you tell me your favorite artist and song?

Skrillex is my favorite artist, i was first introduced to his music type of dubstep but my absolute favorite song is bass cannon by doctor p and the flux pavilion

Depends on the artist, your taste of music, and of course, the song.

I personally love dubstep, but then again there is something in every genre, besides scremo and metal that i like.

Also, currently, my fav song.

I usually don't listen to that much dubstep but recently I've fallen in love with the song "Cinema" (Skrillex Remix). Not sure if you can't the song as dubstep though, I think it has too many audible lyrics.  :lol-fox:

haha, that wasent a bad sone gut your right on the fact that there are to many audible lyrics, i have fallen in love with the song "breakin a sweat'  by skrillex and the doors, really good song, the only thing is,  is that the music video make's no sense to me but here is the link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUULBlDcju4

as for a metal mix, skrillex has workd with corn to make some songs, like "get up" and a couple more i cant quite remember but they're out there

Coki and Benga's Night has to be my favorite dubstep piece ever! I love the old school stuff more than the "brostep" kind of stuff.

I really like Dubstep. I listen to quite a few artists including Nero, Cutline, SKisM, Dodge & Fuski, Doctor P, Eptic, Dj Fresh, Flux Pavilion, Klaypex, Pegboard nerds, Droptek, Killsonic, Xilent, Bar9, Emalkay, Gemini, Document One, The Prodigy, Dirtyphonics, Excision, Funtcase, Culprate, Knife Party,  Loadstar, Netsky, Borgore, Delta Heavy and many more.

I love music I can dance to, and Dubstep is great for that.

The thing that bugs me though is the fact that whenever some people here Techno (AKA Electronic music, AKA E.D.M.), they immediately assume it's Dubstep. There are a TON of other genres just in the Techno category. u_u

When you mean kind I'm guessing your asking genres like Dubstep, so here's what I know.

There's brostep which really becomes all about how crazy the bass becomes. And there's Chillstep, which is more calm.  Unfortunately I don't know the technicalities.

Then you have the whole techno genre, which I think is pretty huge. And since it's so big how about you have a wiki page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_electronic_music_genres

I'm not sure if this is what you wanted?

Edit:I forgot there is also something called Moombacore. Or something like that. Basically it's slower dubstep if I remember correctly.

As a person who used to listen to Dubstep daily (and produce it for a couple years), I think I've grown outta it. I can still listen to it, but I'm more of a House music kinda guy now.

Though I must say that there is no other 'Dubstep' genre and it can seriously put down somebody if their work is titled as 'Dubstep' when it's a completely different thing. If you aren't for sure what genre a techno song is then you can just call it 'EDM' and usually get away with it. It's not too big of a deal, but it can rustle peoples' jimmies.

But if you guys are looking for genres that are similar to Dubstep then you can just go on a Youtube Channel like UKF Dubstep and find plenty of artist that make similar stuff ^u^

Dubstep, EDM, Techno, what have you is tricky to say what is what genre. I have heard of Chillstep before, there is also Metalstep. Which is metal and dubstep fused together, lots of guitar involved. If your looking for artits try: Excision, Modestep, Adventure Club, and Vexare, just to name some.
Just like a burn will linger, she crept between my fingers, and to my body she has now become a new disease. A fog to cloud vision, more like an apparition. She made a mess and now abandoned me.

I wish more people knew of Modestep, they're a great band and it's a shame to see people know one of their most popular songs but not even know the name of the band who made it. :/
