Guitars And Such
« on: March 01, 2013, 10:07:19 pm »
I've wanted to have this as a thread for a while now, let's see how it goes!
So, what's your favorite guitar brand?
Who's your favorite guitarist?
What songs have you favorite solos and/or riffs?
Anything guitar related! Preferably relating to bass and electric, let alone acoustic.
Talk about picking techniques, ask for advice, guitar recommendations and anything in between!

Zenith is going to love this thread. :3 ^~^
Remember that smile, the one you wore with such beauty and grace?  Where has it gone?  What has happened to put you in this miserable, lonely place?  Smile for me, even it may be the last time I see.  A picture I will take not for myself, no. A picture for the entire world to embrace the happiness you once shared with me.  Just smile...

Ooh a guitar thread >: >

That's my old ESP KH-2.  I also have a custom shop KH-4 being made right now too X>

ESP is ichiban.  It's perfect for playing the really technically demanding stuff I like to play.  I can't really stand vintage or classic types of guitars X<  I have a Gibson Studio Les Paul and its neck reminds me of holding a baseball bat.

My favorite guitarist x.x  I can really play favorites;  I like all of the guitarists I listen to equally.  Some days I'm in the mood for Steve Vai.  Some other days, I want to listen to Shawn Lane or Guthrie Govan.  pls don't make me choose, es a difficult question X<

My favorite solo to play...  That a really tough one X>  Uncle Skunk by Guthrie Govan is a really fun song to play as a whole.  Whispering a Prayer, I'm Becoming, and I know You're Here by Steve Vai are really fun songs to play.  The solo for Scarified by Racer X is for when I want to really challenge myself.  I'm always learning new songs so it changes all of the time X>

And advice and techniques.  Well if anyone has any questions involving the guitar you know who you can ask X>

These are the 7 I have;

From left to right; Gibson Kalamazoo, ESP AX-50 (favorite), Washburn Nuno Bettercourt signiture model, and a Fender Stratocaster.

The brands for acousitics I can't remember, but the blue one with the punisher skull was hand-made in Mexico.
Sorry, my iPad takes the crappiest pictures possible  :fox-:P:

So, what's your favorite guitar brand? Fender. I have an obsession with Buddy Holly. Might as well have the same guitar.

Who's your favorite guitarist? Shit. This is a hard one. Buddy Holly is definitely my favorite, but Lou Reed is up there as well. \

What songs have you favorite solos and/or riffs? Since I'm a noob to guitar don't laugh at me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOmZimH00oo This has my favorite riff and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juD4ayBbHdY this has my favorite solo

Yep that about sums it up.

Who's your favorite guitarist? Either Dave Murray or Dave Murray, you pick.
What songs have you favorite solos and/or riffs? Either Run to the hills or the beginning intro to Metallica's One. I can play it all <3
So I'm back :3

I'm too lazy to take a picture of mine so I found a picture online, it's a Fender Affinity Telecaster. It's nice though it doesn't really match the style of music I play (rock/metal), so I'm planning on getting a metal-themed guitar made by Ibanez or ESP.

If anyone is curious, I use 10-52 gauge strings.

Looks like the exact model that The Saftey Fire uses. Great guitar,

I feel like I can chime in here. I play two main guitars, a Squire Jagmaster, which, even being a Squre, I will never ever stop playing it. The action on this guitar is perfect, and once you upgrade to .12 ga strings, it sounds fuller than any Strat I've ever heard.

Second is a "Telecaster" so to speak, that I built myself.

This was the toughest thing to build I've ever tried. getting the intonation and string angle proper was a huge challenge, but I love the way it turned out. Classic Telecaster "ching" to it.

As for favorites? Favorite guitarist is, and always will be, Mr. Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin.

Favorite riff ever? Well, I'm a ska fan, so probably Where'd You Go, by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-5EwdEEN24

Either that or a song from the band I used to play in, called Caliber:

I don't ever want to feel, like I did that day...
Take me to the place I love, Take me all the way...

(bring a little revival here)

I just discovered this brand called Wirebird Guitars, anyone heard of them before? It's a London-based guitar company, and they make some really retro looking guitars but sound pretty modern. And I guess they specialize in technical playing, as evidenced by The Safety Fire using them. Try looking up a video on YouTube called "Guitar World Floods of Colour - Dez & Jo Playthrough". You'll see what I mean.

My favourite guitar brand? I find this a hard question to answer, as I own three Fender guitars, and they are wonderful, however, I do own an Ibanez Archtop guitar, and it is the best guitar I own! So I'm torn!

My favourite guitarist of all time is Mark Knopfler, I love his style, plus he's a Rock fingerpicker, like me! I actually have a link of my top ten favourite guitarists on Rate Your Music, so I'll just give you guys that:
http://rateyourmusic.com/list/frobe1357/my_favourite_rock_guitarists

Favourite solos? Well, in Rock, some that immediatly come to mind are:
Something, Sultans of Swing, Starship Trooper, The Musical Box, Hocus Pocus, Axe Murderer, Anything by Brian May, Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll, Achilles Last Stand, Like a Hurricane & Muffin Man!
Your head is so far up your own arse you wouldn't know whether to fart or speak.
