The Okami soundtrack. Need I say more?

Absolutely, this is my favorite!

But I also love the soundtracks for Destiny and Uncharted as well.

Skyrim had one of the best original game soundtracks of all time and I don't think anyone has topped it yet. The game would play such uplifting music as you explored the world of Tamriel, and then in the heat of the battle you'd here an upbeat ensemble that told us the fight was legendary. The best third-party soundtrack is probably from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The music from the 1980s was steller in that game and it was just so perfect.

Stardew Valley has a great soundtrack if you're into the retro 8bit game genre.

Halflife 1 and 2 are ok but not exceptional. The one I personally think is the best is Portal 2. I also like the old 8 bit style music from games like Raptor Call of The Shadows and Millennium Digger.

I really enjoy FinalFantasyXIII's soundtrack and even though I haven't played the game in long while StarOcean:TLH also has a really nice soundtrack in my opinion. I would leave the game on in various areas most of the time just to listen to the music :P and I have a natural bias towards SoulCalibur and Skyrims music is nice too, although FFXIII and SO:TLH are the only games I'd put effort into listening when not playing the game XD

I have to say it's gotta be the original Fallout games, seeing as I have gone to the effort of getting Vault Archives.
To me, vg music has to convey a tone, a mood. Mark Morgan is a master in that respect, as his sounds manage to convey so much unease, tension and longing, while still connecting well to the world that now exists rather than our old, dead home.

Some people, myself in this case, do and say some cringe-worthy shit when they were a 13 y/o wannabe edge-lord. Little did I know about how the world works yet I pretended to know everything there is to know about everything. I've spit so much shit out of my mouth it's honestly terrifying no one had told me how wrong I was about anything. Now I know better, right?

Just adding another 2 cents to this.
Okami's soundtrack is fan-flippin-tastic, and for the same reasons, so is the new approach Koei Tecmo took to music in SW4 with way more traditional sounding instrumental music, I love traditional Japanese instruments
A real list topper though, as someone who has played a lot of fantasy games. Is the UNRIVALLED soundtrack for Heroes of Might and Magic, particularly 3 and 4, mainly 4 for the beautiful atmosphere the music creates, it is unmatched in any game I have played TO DATE, and I actually have mods in Skyrim replacing the default...And dare I say, generic *Takes cover*...Soundtrack with my favourite mix of HoMM 3 and 4 music, and when you pair those beautiful melodies, melodies that games like The Witcher 3 have drawn clear inspiration from, with tropical skyrim just....UUUUUUUUUUHHHHHYEASSSSSSSS the sheer feeling of exploring this beautiful world is magnified, the sense that each battle is as much a battle of skill as it is might is real and dragon battles, ignoring my replacement Alduin theme, feel magical and massive

Personally, I enjoy Portal 2s soundtrack and Undertales soundtrack the most. Portals music just has this sorta feeling to it, and Undertale has great music that fits every situation, character, and scene. I have no idea how many times I've listened to their soundtracks all the way through.

Two games that first came to mind when I saw this post are both Bethesda games, Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Both games have absolutely wonderful score while free roaming the map. My personal favorite songs from these two games are their theme songs. zthey all sound really epic, as if there was an army marching on to war. For the game with the best unoriginal soundtrack, that would have to be Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The music from the 1980s is some of the most well known worldwide. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City brought all any 1980s fanatic could ask for, whether it be "99 Luftballons" by German new wave group Nena or "Billie Jean" by American pop legend Michael Jackson.

Kenshi- An independent game, but a brilliant one. The soundtrack is atmospherics and chilling. Heavily inspired by several eastern Asian cultures.

Lisa- The painful & Lisa- The Joyful. Both boast wonderfully strange soundtracks that easily get the player pumped for battle or disturbs them.

Gothic 3- A mess of a game without the community patch, but the music is unforgettable and serene.

Bound by flame- A game by spidersoft, of whom I'm kinda a fan of. These games are rough and not the best, but I really enjoy them. The soundtrack for bound by flame was composed by Olivier Deriviere. Credit to the guy, deserves more credit.

Risk of rain- One of my favorite games. The game has a brilliant sound track that fits the Sci-fi theme well. Without they soundtract, I dont think I could marathon matches of the game.

Brink- A rough game that I enjoyed. The sound track had a certain theme, and you could tell it was from bring due to certain notes. Resistance theme security theme

The walking dead- Holy shit I love this game and it's soundtrack and everything is so good and the story telling HNNG
