The Inheritance Cycle By Christopher Paolini
« on: April 17, 2013, 11:42:13 pm »
The series is comprised of Eragon, Eldest,Brisinger, and Inheritance. It follows the journey of a young farm boy after he becomes connected with a dragon making him a dragon rider. After his father is killed and his home is destroyed by servants of the oppressive king (who is also a dragon rider) he embarkes on a mission to kill these servants with an old story teller from his village. This story teller teaches him sword play, magic, and many other things. The story line continues after to show how he becomes the spearhead for the revolution to overthrow the king by the dwarves, elves, and rebel humans.
I believe many people would enjoy this because the main character, Eragon, developes a connection with his dragon that allows them to speak to each other with their minds. This allows much of the story to be shown from her anamalistic view of how things are in the world. Also its just an awsome series if you like swords, dragons, magic, or fantasy. If you really enjoy it there is a movie out for the first book and I have heard rumors about a second. I dont recommend watching the movie first because it is a lot different from the book because the book is kinda long.

Yes, the movie was an epic dissapointment compared to the book. (dont know what else to say, besides the books are amazing)

You are right. I saw it before reading the book. Thus, I couldn't really be disappointed until I read "Eragon". I saw the movie once more recently, and yes, that's really awful.

It's Star Wars in the setting of Lord of the Rings, using the magic system from Earthsea.  :|

No, I don't think its copied over like that. Yeah the whole 'empire' idea is there, but I, as a scalie, loved how it portrayed Saphira (and the one or two other dragons in the series)

This series was awesome! I liked how the interaction between all the races was so complicated. Oh, and the dragon fights, those were good too :cyclopsani:
