Code in topics and replies
« on: September 04, 2013, 04:17:37 pm »
So I see the "code" button amongst the other text stuff and emoticons, however I'm not sure how to go ahead using it. What code does it take, HTML, HTML5, BB-code or something else? I'd actually really like to know in case I need it in the future.
(By the way I've done a quick search and I haven't found any other thread/post about this, but if there is then feel free to delete this one.)

I knew the website uses BBCode but I just wasn't sure whether it was possible to use different code due to the fact that you can enter BBCode without the "code" opening and closing. Thanks for settling that for me! :D

Yep, we use BBCode...the "code" button actually just tells the forum to not run the code, so you can explain a code to someone or whatever:
Code: [Select]
[font color=red]Like dis[/font]

It also allows you to present software code in other languages  :-)

Code: [Select]
from Equestria.ponies import Fluttershy

if Fluttershy.isCute():
     print 'yay'

And if you use it to show PHP code, it displays syntax coloring.

Code: [Select]
<?php
if($pony == True)
{
     print
'ZOMG PONY!!';
}
?>
