So I'm writing a play...
« on: October 02, 2013, 05:35:49 pm »
Hey guys

So right now i am going to be starting to write a play for a competition. Since i have very little experience writing scripts (I took drama at my school for the past three years and i don't really count that experience cause it was more fun and acting than writing) i was wondering if anyone has any tips for writing plays? Its a maximum 40 page script and a 50 minute time limit for the play.

Also, even though i had an idea for a play already, i wont mind people throwing in their own ideas if they want to help me.

I have a friend that's GREAT at writing scripts,  so I'll try and see if he's got any tips for you. What I'd do is look up some scripts,  both play and film ones and find what they all have in common (preferably just one of those two types). I'll reply back when I can contact my friend.
Also. try and aim for roughly one minute per page,  it helps.  :)

Thanks for the really helpful tips :D. BTW do you know any good FREE sites that have scripts to look up that would be good to use as references?

I know nothing about script writing, but once mum is up out of bed and feeling better, I'll ask her for some tips to give you.
