What is your earliest memory of playing a videogame?
« on: February 14, 2014, 09:01:27 pm »
What is the earliest thing you can remember about playing video games? If you remember what it was, what was the game? Do you still play it now? Do you still own a copy? Who introduced it to you, if you remember?

I'll start it off

My earliest memory of a video game comes from playing "Banjo-Kazooie" on the N64 when I was about 2 or 3 years old, which is about 1-2 years after its initial release. It was so early, I still remember being in diapers when I played it XD
To this day, "Banjo-Kazooie" is one of my all-time favorite games to play, and I never get tired of replaying it, although I wish I still had an original copy and a N64 to play it on...for now, I just use emulators.

for ANY game, my first was Pokemon Gold, but for VIDEO game, I think it was Crash Bandicoot: Twin-Sanity for PS2

My parents seriously didn't care for age ratings so I was playing gta 3 at age 6. Never did the missions so I was stuck in Portland which I now know of the back of my hand. I first played off my sisters ps2 before I claimed it as my own :)

The earliest game I can remember playing is the original Spyro the Dragon on the ps2. I don't remember when I started playing it, but I've still got it, along with my ps2. Although I never play either of them nowadays.

I remember playing gauntlet on the SNES which I still play and to this day.
It's kinda funny cus I still remember all the Easter eggs and secrets from playing as a child like hitting the food will make someone say "don't shoot the food" and different Mario'esk warp rooms and all the cheats to regen health and what not. Yet I still can barely remember gun names in CoD :fox-;):

Mario Tennis for the GameBoy color was probably one of the first games I ever played. I remember being so young and my brother was playing it but he had to do something so he gave it to me and was like, "Just keep pressing A" and that was all I did. Haha.

I also remember like, the first mario game for the GameBoy Classic.

It's between Donkey Kong Country, A Link to the Past, and Super Mario World . I remembered my dad bought a SNES because he was a total electronics geek and I remembered he played both games from start to end. I was about 2-3 when he got them, so it was towards the end of the SNES era. Whenever I watch a play through of either of those games I get serious nostalgia.

I played a bunch of educational games when I was little on the computer. There was a few we played at school in the computer lab, and at home I had a Math Blaster game and this game called Adiboo where you could have a vegetable garden, flower garden, and you could paint the house and grow a fruit tree, and harvest honey from a beehive... after a while you'd collect a lot of ingredients which you could use in the kitchen to bake different cakes, which you then put on the windowsill and either the dog would eat it (if it was a good cake) or the villain would come and eat it (if it was a nasty type of cake). It also had real cake and pie recipes for you to make at home. Then on disc 2, there was more games but I didn't understand most of them. I just liked the racing game on disc 2, but disc 1 was my favorite.
I didn't play any non-educational games until I was older. My parents were pretty against video games, but I'm glad I had the educational games, they were really fun back then.

I remember playing Super Mario 64 at my cousins' house on a few occasions. This was a while after the game was released, but still around the early 2000s. I also remember playing 007: Nightfire back when I was younger.

I can remember helping my Dad play Duck Hunt with a controller. My Dad would give me an unplugged controller and I would help the dog find the ducks.

Everyone has such great early gaming memories, while the earliest games I remember playing were a bunch of crappy movie tie-in games on the original Playstation. I'm so jealous. hahahaha

I think must have been either Toy Story or A Bug's Life? There were other games, but I'm fairly sure those were among the first. I also played a lot of Tomb Raider, Tenchu and Gauntlet in my early childhood.

I remember playing some Crash Bandicoot game on the Psone at a friend's, or a rallye game that I can't remember the name. Then I got the N64 and played F1 1998 and V-rallye. Good time.
