A little biology help please D:

What is the first organ to develop in the vertebrate embryo? What is the function of this organ?
What happens to this organ in most vertebrates? Does anybody know?
  • Pronouns: him
We breathe in the heat of the eternal flame, the warmth of desert sands.
We submerge into the waters of the Mystery, giving thanks for the cleansing rains.
We are enveloped in the radiance of the cosmos.
And we are the center, the bridge between realms.

According to this which appears to be a textbook by mcgraw hill, the first organ to develop is the notochord. Based on wikipedia , its is to serve as a supporting structure. In most vertebrates, the notochord becomes the nucleus pulposus of the intervertebral disc.

Sorry i couldn't find more legitimate sources, but that's what i dug up. Hope this answered your quesiton
