I'm not super amazing at point and shoot cameras, much better at DSLRs, but I would recommend getting one of Nikon's bridging cameras. You could probably pick up a Nikon Coolpix P510 for about that price.

Here's a Canon PowerShot SX170 for $149.00 down from $179.00. It's 16 MP, 16 x optical zoom. Has 209 reviews which are good.

And this little piggy has 12 MP, 30x optical zoom, 1080p full HD video and is within your price range at $199.00 with 240 customer reviews.

In seriousness though I actually got this camera straight from South Korea because of some neighbors, and it is a totally kickass little guy! I'm sad Samsung doesn't make it anymore, but definitely check Korean manufacturers for point and shoot. Korean tech tends to cost less but still deliver quality.

I quite like this camera here, the ViviCam S1527 . It's cheap and appears to be decent (I'm not expert on camera specs :lol-fox: ) and is the camera I'm hoping to go for next. It might be worth a look for you as again, it's pretty cheap.

Save up more and a get an entry level DX format DSLR. You can get older models like something from 2010  at a cheap price but the quality will still be very good. I've been using my nikon D600 for more than 4 years and it still works perfectly fine
