"NSA Virus" - Don't fall for it!
« on: June 06, 2014, 03:09:04 pm »
I was made aware today of what is known as the "National Security Agency Virus," which made an appearance on my laptop this morning. It causes a pop-up to appear in your internet browser which appears to be a very official government page accusing you of illegal internet actions, such as copyright infringement or child pornography (those are the two it showed me). It locks up your browser and won't let you close it, and it says that if you don't pay a fine via MoneyPak within a certain amount of time, your machine will stay locked down and you will be federally prosecuted. Whatever you do, DO NOT pay the fine. Hold down the power button on your machine to do a hard shut-down and then follow the instructions here (http://blog.mitechmate.com/national-security-agency-virus-removal-tutorial/) to remove the ransomware programming. If you don't know how to do it on your own, you might need to get in contact with an expert. Similar manifestations include the FBI Virus and the DOD Virus, both of which are the same kind of ransomware.

Feel free to talk to me! I don't bite, although I probably smell like chlorine.

This happened to me once with the Chesire Police saying I had been on Zoophilla and child porn. Magically though I'd be absolved of all my crimes by paying a £100 fine. A) Of course I've never been on that stuff and the people which do deserve serious punishment. B) You definalty don't get away with those crimes by paying a fine; the police would be breaking down your front door. On YouTube there's a guy I watch called Britec. He has some pretty detailed guides on how to get rid of them. I'll get a link.

Yep here. He covers a lot of the ransom where and I'm sure he did the NSA on before. http://m.youtube.com/user/Britec09

I got this thing a long time ago. It claimed to be FBI, so my mom called them and discovered the trickery. We had a CP genius friend fix it.

Ah, the FBI virus and its many mutations. My father has worked on at least a dozen PCs with the FBI virus.

To avoid getting this virus or any other viruses, just be careful what you downland and watch out for fake download buttons. Don't forget to have your anti-virus program up to date and try installing browser add ons like ad-blocker and NoScript.

Got this on my laptop once (CSIS for me though). Just reading the fine print can make you notice that it is entierly fake.

The only way to make sure you dont get this is to not download anything suspicious and make sure your anti virus is up to date
