Virus.... Need Help..
« on: June 08, 2014, 01:18:30 am »
i got a virus from "hamachi" it installed a bunch of programs.. i uninstaleed them all but im still getting virus notifications when i scan from malware bytes. ive deleted all the virus notifications and the viruses that were on there. im still pretty afraid because i spent alot of money on this computer but i think a virus could still be lurking...

My main q is. How can i be 100% positive that my computer is virus-free ..

Reboot into Windows by putting it in safe mode (see if you don't know how to in Windows 8 ), then run Malwarebytes again. If after that you still get messages that say you're infected (or if you just want to be sure theres nothing there) download Kaspersky Rescue Disk ( and burn it to a cd or usb stick. Boot into that and scan for viruses that were still there. That should hopefully get rid of anythong that may be left on there.

Hamachi is known to be a pain in the a** to get rid of for good.

You need to remove Hamachi by going to the control panel on the start button, then going to the uninstall a program link, find Hamachi and anything else related, then uninstall it.

This is why using Hamachi in Minecraft and Terraria servers is now frowned upon.

I don't exactly remember how I got rid of mine but after Hamachi I had run into other similar programs which were promptly ridden of using the system's own uninstall instead of the program's.

This is a handy little tip, but if you suspect a computer has keylogger, open a new word document, type in your password(s) and copy/paste them into the log in box of the site you're about to enter. A pasted password doesn't get read that way. This is especially useful if you're in a place using a remote computer and don't trust the proprietors.

1.Run MalwareBytes.
2.Run HijackThis. If your browser randomly redirects you, run TDSSKiller. (It might get blocked by the virus. So, change the filename.)
3.Run AVG/Avast. They're both free, and do a great job at cleaning computers.
