Any Jazz Fans Out There?
« on: July 11, 2014, 09:26:06 pm »
If so who is your favorite artist, favorite song, favorite type of jazz?
Do any of you guys play jazz and if so what instrument?
My favorite is Grant Green and Thelonious Monk.
I play jazz guitar.

I absolutely love jazz!

Sadly though, I don't really know any artist, so I don't listen to it much, do you have any recommendations?
Once again, I don't have favorites, however, I am particularly fond of the jazz guitar, and the saxophone~

If you love jazz guitar listen to Grant Green, he is a god, also Wes Montgomery, Django, and Joe Pass.
My top recommendations would be listen to Bronislaw Kaper's songs "Invitation" and "On Green Dolphin Street", two of my favorites, also to Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Coltrane, Charlie Parker, and Jaco Pastorious. Oh and Sonny Rollins hehe.

Jazz and jazz fusion are pretty cool.

John Coltrane and Miles Davis have some good stuff.

I've always liked jazz, but I haven't listened in a quite a while. However, when I was around 10, there was an (almost) one year period where I only listened to jazz! Some of my favorites that I can remember are Pat Metheny, Brad Mehldau, Chieli Minucci, and John Coltrane.

I am a huge fan of jazz. I play in my jazz band in school (I play the alto sax), at home, and I even just finished up a one week Jazz Camp at Moravian College (it's very close to where I live). Concerning what kind of jazz I like, I like smooth jazz. My favorite artists have to be The Rippingtons, and Jeff Kashiwa. Let me tell you, I've met a whole lot of famous jazz musicians (world-renowned famous like Jeff), and they're all really nice. It's pretty amazing really.
