How many of you eat dinner with your family?
« on: July 24, 2014, 03:03:07 pm »
This came to me the other day when I was in a skype call with a friend of mine. I had to go for a bit to have dinner with my family. The friend was pretty confused. People actually take time out of their day to eat with their family?

And then his dinner: His parents will make the food, he will take it and bring it to his room or whatever, eating while doing his own thing.

Honestly, I've never not eaten dinner with my family. All families should do it!  It helps the parents know what their child is up to, and the conversation helps the child and keeps them in check. It's supposed to help a child positively develop!

So anyway, how many of you guys regularly have dinner with your family? If you don't, why?

I eat with my family every night. Even on nights we arent at the table we all sit together in the living room and eat and watch whatever's on the TV.

I think it's a good thing and probably something I'll do with my family some day.

Even with the current situation in my house, I still do take time and eat dinner with them.

There usually isn't much conversation, but I still believe that it's important just to be there.

Usually only eat dinners with them. Occasionally I'll eat breakfast with the rest of my family if they make something, but most of the time I have to take care of my own breakfast and lunch.

I technically eat dinner with them most of the time.
We all tend to eat in our living room.
Because nobody ever feels like sitting at the table xD

But, we only really eat at the table on special occasions.

Either way, we are always social and know what's going on with each other.

Unless our Father is away we usually have Tea together. We have Breakfast at different times since my Brother and I have Paper Rounds and Lunches are usually a free-for-all. (Since the majority of lunches are at school). We're not allowed to eat in our rooms so we have to sit at the table.

Pretty much every night I'm visiting home. Otherwise I prefer to take my meals alone at home.

well, from what i know, children eating at the table is asposed to keep the family together and as a unit and whatnot. i dont like my family. my grandfather is an annoying asshole that drinks too much. my little brother has a very short fuse and i feel like ripping his throat out. my grandma's religiousness is ok if she doesnt go over board or gay bash, but sometimes she just says stuff that makes me want to call her an idiot. my little sister thinks i am some satan spawn, smoking drugs and all kinds of crap. plus she is like a lot of little girls i know, wayy into social media, mtv, and disney channel. kills me. and my mother wanting to have us together is what gets under my skin. i dont like these people. she has struggled and fought to try to keep us as a family unit, try to have a father figure.... it all just fell apart at her hands.

We usually eat in separate rooms (mom in her office, our room mate in his room, and me in the living room) unless it's a holiday or we're out at a restaurant.

My family always eats together. Very rarely do I not, and most of the time that's because I'm at sports practice when they eat. Sometimes I do eat alone if I'm not feeling well or don't want to be around people. But that's not often.
Feel free to PM me or message me on Skype. I like to talk, and as long as I'm not busy I'm happy to chat anytime :lol-fox:

We usually eat in separate rooms and at different times. I used to eat with my brother, mum and grandma quite regularly, but now I don't for a few reasons. Those being that my mum's busier at work these days, it's harder for my grandma to get out and I now occupy what was once the living room since it became impractical for me to share a room with my brother. It's harder to do stuff together in general, which is kind of sad, as I always loved dining and spending time with family members.

It's great credit to my sisters, all around 16 years old or so that they take turns rustling up food for all to eat. They're not picky, either. They buy our groceries with me, lug it back and lay the table while a couple are cooking. Eating together brings family together and with our mum gone, I think all our mealtimes have since become more important than ever.

Just to add, but I notice items get placed in the trolly without my looking. Until I get to the tills and conveniently notice extra things like magazines and chocolate scanning through, lolZ. But that's a small niggle when my sisters are so mindful at keeping us together, and that makes eating together as a young family so very rewarding.
