So apparently I'm terrible at finding good dance music.

No seriously its a huge problem for me

Long story short, Because the entire trip i felt completely YOLO (when i say it was my motto for when i was indecisive, I'm not even kidding) i came up with a dance routine (1m30, and i never recorded it so unless someone else did, you wont get the footage) but i had the hardest time to find even a song i could dance to. Needless to say after searching my song library, i only found 1 song i could easily use to dance to (and i dont think it was good).

So two questions im asking here
1) What are good songs that you can dance to AND can be easily trimmed down or changed a bit so that it would fit in most dance competition requirements (see like any furry con convention)
2) What kind of music should i be looking for/by what artists in order to find songs that fit this category.

Really, I think you can dance to anything, for a good portion of music, you need a partner or group.
Now, I will compile a list of generas that are good and easy to dance too.

Blues/Garage rock (garage rock has a lot of blues elements so I put that next to it)
Swing
Hiphop (I strongly advise against mainstream)
Jazz
Soul
Funk
Instrumental (kinda)
Celtic
Latin (kinda)
Dance (yes, there is a genera for dance music)

Gah! i forgot to mention this!

I was looking for more music directed towards things like a fursuit dance competition, and given my desired skillset is around breaking/whatever they do at fursuit dance competitions. Im trying to find music to fit that.

Oh, then well, pardon my cynicism, but I doubt they'll play anything like that.
Nothing stopping you from checking those genres out though, but I think they might play some hiphop (mainstream sadly), dance, or maybe a little instrumental.

I recommend looking into Stateless (hiphop/dance).

You mean like that dubsteppy stuff? Or the mix of different songs? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAWzz6OOU60 This is a mix.
I find this MOST entertaining, haha. I'd kill to see a fursuiter dance to something like this. That'd be quite the sight.
I noticed most furries use a sound effect to cut their songs. My friends had to do the same for their Katy Perry mix in their dance class. I'd look at hip hop or mainstream artists (it hurts to say the word mainstream lol). I always thought, if I had any balls, I'd dance to Disturbia by Rihanna or Promiscuous by Nelly Furtado and Timbaland. But, I'm a wuss and can only dance with a group of friends.
Referring to the above comment, I still live to see the day where someone dances to non-mainstream music. But non mainstream music is usually mellowed down. The closest thing I've heard to dance music in Alternative music are these songs. You can try, but I don't think it'll work.
