What’s the best time and place to listen to music?
« on: July 30, 2014, 09:38:29 pm »
Just wondering. . .. because it's very late for me right now and when I can't sleep, I'll listen to something soothing on acoustic guitar. Or quietly play my Taylor Koa in my bedroom, or even out on the patio . . ..at night. Now, that's really just fine to let the sounds of strings drift off into the night. Have you tried it?  :)

I have tried it, I begin to focus on the music, and can't sleep.

If you're trying to sleep to music, try music without lyrics

For some people it's not about the best time and place but what type of music that is listened to...

Not everybody can go to sleep with huge masses o guitars or some huge bass in a trance beat over and over....I sometimes listen to music on youtube that has things like the ocean sea or the wind blowing in the trees....it helps me visualise a place of calm and serenity and then my body slowly relaxes and so do I

I love it every time I listen to something new late in the morning, especially if it's slow and mellow. Gets me in the mood to be sleepy and gets to the emotional side of me :).

I enjoy it most when I'm in an airy, quiet room with lots of windows and a large area to dance around on. Even better in the early morning; the night is too depressing.

I usually listen to it laying in bed before I go to sleep, the only problem is I can drift off and leave it playing all night.

Late into the night whenever I'm idly browsing the net. It helps me feel more connected and it's a convenient time to listen to music that I'd normally feel embarrassed to be caught listening to, because everyone is likely to be a sleep. The nighttime offers a serene environment free of the disturbance of many background noises and makes music clearer. I also like to listen to it early in the morning too. It helps engage my brain and prepares me for the day.

As for a place, listening to radio in the car is always good. It's how I'm exposed to most of the songs I come across.

Everywhere. Music is everywhere. The vibration of every molecule is in itself a form of meta-music in this great movement of the Universe. I honestly think music is absolutely everywhere you find it. It doesn't have to be on a computer, CD, vinyl, cassette, or tape, it can simply be the sound of being outside and listening to the wind blow or the sound of your environment. This is how I live everyday life. I find the music everywhere.

In all seriousness, that's a pretty interesting way of looking at music.

Bathtub is the best time for music listens especially when it's super hot and you can't move because you're afraid you'll burn and just turning up some Giraffage or some other chill artist

I can't really listen to music late at night because my mind is whirring & buzzing & the thoughts go too fast to concentrate.

I enjoy listening to music most during car & bus journeys & when travelling (at the airport, going around London, exploring other countries etc). It makes the world seem so much more interesting.
