Albums You Turn To When You're Absolutely Down
« on: September 07, 2014, 11:54:09 am »
For me it has to be Beach Boys' Pet Sounds. It doesn't make me feel any better, but it does help me mask the feelings for those 35 minutes. How about you guys?

Wicked Soundtrack
If/Then Soundtrack
Frozen Soundtrack
It depends on which song I'm listening too but I don't really listen to them to just feel better but to escape things for a little bit

I have a stash that I'm listening to at the moment (I don't like listening to lyrics when I'm feeling down) and I bothered to hyperlink them all too.~ ^^

In Rainbows. No, it's not a particularly happy album, but I always look at it with respect to Kid A and Amnesiac, two of Radiohead's albums from a few years prior, both of which were very congested, mechanical, depressing works (beautiful in their own way, but still...), and to me In Rainbows represents the light at the end of a really long, dark tunnel, but still building on the experiences of going through that tunnel. And the fact that this group could be in such an unfamiliar, dark place musically as they were and turn it into something as gorgeous as that gives me hope in my darkest moments that I can do the same.

I love Tom Petty or George Harrison, real upbeat tracks though I have to say how Beach Boy's Pet Sounds mellows me out so nicely. Good choice there, Nightf0x! :)
