The collaboration album between Bishop Nehru and MF DOOM "NehruvianDOOM", for only being 9 tracks it's a heavy hitter, amazing production and fantastic lyrics on each track, it never lets up and the transitions are super smooth. Fantastic album, definetly my favorite for this year.

Other favorites from this year:
Unknown Memory - Yung Lean
Government Plates - Death Grips
ZABA - Glass Animals
Hot Soup (instrumentals) - Danny Brown
Hell Can Wait - Vince Staples
Streetwear model, musician, painter, ZOMBiE

Ayy, there's more than one here. Sorry.

I don't normally choose an AOTY but I do list favourites and sometimes categorize them.

One of my favourites was definitely High Noon by Arkells. This exceeded my expectations after what happened with Michigan Left and it turned out to be absolutely fantastic.

PUP by PUP. This heralded a release in Canada in 2013 but forged a worldwide release earlier this year so I'm not sure if you can class it as this year. Although, this has to be one of the best punk rock albums I have ever listened to. The sheer energy in this album is phenomenal.

A Dada Plan Is Free by Dada Plan. This was a very interesting album. It's so varied. I believe it's meant to be slightly psychedelic, although somehow they've mixed that with hip hop, rock, and just mental waves and shit. Lyrical genius, too. It's actually probably the most underrated album on my list.

Jukebox the Ghost by Jukebox the Ghost. Piano pop isn't really a thing that you find everywhere, but this album, in my opinion, is a step up from Safe Travels. I can actually listen to this one the whole way through, and it's very witty also. It's interesting to see how far they've progressed from their debut release.

Supermodel by Foster the People. I waited for this and I think everyone was hoping for a Torches element. If people didn't compare this to Torches in their reviews this would have been a acclaimed album, I think. The album opens incredibly strong and ends very strong too. All in all, a very good album.

For Those Who Stay by PS I Love You. Definitely a step up from their previous album. The variety on this album is insane. Should have at least made the longlist for the Polaris Prize, seriously.

Lo-Fantasy by Sam Roberts Band. SRB are highly held back due to the absolute acclaim on Sam Roberts' debut album We Were Born In A Flame, although Lo-Fantasy is an interesting attempt and I think that it should be help up there with one of Sam Roberts' best albums to date.

Finally, Turn Blue by The Black Keys. Highly devolved in reviews due to El Camino, but I think this album was incredible. For garage rock and blues, this is probably up there as the best right now. And lets be honest, Gotta Get Away is an absolute tune.

----------------------------------------------------------

I feel that Weezer's Everything Will Be Alright In The End might have made it if it didn't lack in flowing well the whole way through. Although it's better than the atrocities that were Hurley and Raditude, it's actually alright.

ah shit just read Cholo's post and completely forgot Salad Days by Mac DeMarco. Oh well. There you go.

For me its a tie between the frozen soundtrack and the If/Then original broadway recording. I've listened to them equally as much and they've both helped me through a lot

Woo DragonForce!
Definitely high on my list, but with Linkin Parks's the hunting party, even though it isn't their wonderful nu-metal style I still love the songs and their lyrics. Such a choice, I guess I'll have to listen carefully to both albums to decide!
