Modest, Mouse-like people

Ok, so I'm, like, majorly addicted to Indie Rock at the moment. Particularly Modest Mouse. So, out of random curiousity, what do you think of Indie Rock and/or Mouse and thir songs?

I don't quite know much about Modest Mouse (besides the fact that their name  conjures up odd images in me head) But I'm all for Indie Rock, whether it be ndie like the stuff a decnt chunk of people have heard (Tapes 'n Tapes, Metric), or the uber-indie like Lemon Demon and MC Frontalot. W00t.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=erc40wCxRZo At the Moment, this is one of my favourite Mouse songs... And the name of the band was actually inspired by a line about working middle class people from a novel XD

They're also the ones responsible for Float On. :3

Oh, I always thought their name was a reference to the classical composer Modest Mussorgsky, the guy responsible for "Night on Bald Mountain".

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the actual quotation is "Modest, Mouse-colored people". Oddly enough.

No, that doesn't even make sense. It was from some Virginia Woolf novel. It was "Modest, mouse-like people." It was describing the working middle class class. Why would they be mouse-coloured?  :fox-:P:

EDIT: Ok... I guess you're right. After looking up the definition of "mouse-colored" it makes a bit more sense. But that was a really WTF story thing.

P.S. It's a snail!

Yeah, it confused me too. I guess blame Wikipedia. (not that I don't usually like them)

I adore Modest Mouse. I really think they deserve more recognition then they get though.

I read the story which the quote was taken from. The Mark on the Wall by Virginia Woolf. It's some rambling on about a spot on the wall. Debating with the narrator's self over whether it's dirt, a black rose petal, or a crack in the wood. After a tl;dr ramble, the end of the story goes along the lines of the narator waking up to her husband saying he's going to get the newspaper. After snapping out of her wandering she says "Why bother? There's nothing ever in the news" He says "It's all because of this damn war. And I don't see why we should have a snail on the wall!"

Yeah, it's just like, "Whoa...wait... WTF?" XD
