Can you Haiku?
« on: February 03, 2005, 06:00:14 pm »
haiku, a form of poetry.  3 lines.  first line is 5 syllables, the second is 7 , and the last is another 5.
What haikus can you come up with?

This ozy and millie comic should give you some ideas...
http://www.ozyandmillie.net/2005/om20050124.html

here's another from OzFoxes.

To find you shadow,
Look for the light inside you,
And just turn away.
                      -A dark-side haiku

good luck!

Oxygen is good,
Not breathing is not fun,
You should breath more air...

I never really understood the Haiku since it made no sense with so few words and was so short @.@ But ryhming poems are the best though since I think they are pretty catchy. I probally don't like Haiku's since I can't make one if my life depended on it XP

syllables are the seperate parts of a word.
Short words don't have breaks in their phonetic pronounciation.
 Fart=1
Fart-ing=2
Syll-a-ble=3
A-qui-si-tion=4
Pro-noun-ce-a-tion=5

I got it the first time.
It realy wasn't that hard.
I could be wrong though.

heh, you had one extra syllable in the first line there Polaris..  ^^

History tells us,
The more we try to change,
The more we do not.
                           ~another one of my hiakus

this one is obviously based off of, "The more we try to change, the more we stay the same."  I thought it up durign a movie about the 'flappers' of the 1920's, and hwo their rebelion effected society.  It dd in fact change society, but we still face some of teh same prejustices, adn deal with them in the same way as people in the 1920's.

Hiakus are fun!   :laugh-wuf:

The meaning of life?
A delicate piece of string
Waiting to be snapped.
" You can't change the world but you can make a dent in it. "
" The one thing they love more than a hero is to see a hero fail. "
" Sometimes light is really dark. Sometimes good is really stark. Sometimes Winter feels like Spring. Don't think you know everything. "
" I prefer to think of it as misunderstood. Aren't we all? "

Poetry for me
Poses no problems as it
Comes naturally.

I don't see the point
Of wasting all of this time
On simple poems.

Do you realize
There is another topic
Regarding Haiku?

[on this same page even: http://www.furryteens.org/forum/index.php?topic=3746.0]
"Life's journey is not about arriving at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy Shit, what a ride""
"Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means you are two steps ahead"
"Invoke not common sense, for it is not common"
"A life without joy is a wasted one, and you got but one to waste."
"To touch the clouds, you need to reach for the stars"

Cherry blossoms fall,
then lie strewn across the field
like warriors in war

Hear my call, in faith,
the shadows linger longer
but night shall save us.

Dance in the moonlight,
sing away the brightening sun,
dance until the light.

Twinkling so bright,
like a candle through the night.
Starlight leads my way.

Drink some hot fresh tea,
and watch leafs fall through the air.
See the beauty there?

I really hate these,
Too frikkin easy for me,
HAH, kidding I'm done.

See, that doesn't work,
What the friz does all this mean?
These rarely make sense.

The end of my song,
Ha ha ha, stupid haikus.
Too cliche for me.
Still confused? Then perhaps this will enlighten you!
