Are you expected to have memorized the conversion rates or do they give you one? There's a ton of different ways to do this problem.

I have a conversion chart
1 gallon = 3.785 L
1 mile = 1.609 km
1 pint = 2 cups
1 in = 2.54 cm
1 lb = 453.6 g
4 quarts = 1 gallon
T *F = 1.8 T *C+ 32
1 cup = 8 oz
1 quart = 2 pints

BUT TO ME IT ALL LOOKS LIKE ROCKET SCIENCE

He gave us a specific way to do it
Example:
How many Donuts are in 4 dozen?
4 dozen x 12 donuts/1 dozen = 48 donuts

another example:
How many feet are in 4 miles
1 mile = 5280ft
4miles x 5280ft/1mile = 21120ft

She said she loved me, she said she would stay. She took my heart and went away..... What do I do now??

^^^ cool! Nice going
I already wrote this out so going to post it just incase ^^"

Ok so you have the km to miles conversion already so that makes things easy. You can convert km to miles without it but that involves a lot more steps. You can do this problem using the number they gave you 1 mile = 1.609 km
Make sure you understand the conversions, this one is just one step later on there will be more steps.

So you're converting 450km to miles using the rate 1 mile = 1.609km
When you set up the problem include units it'll make it easier
The conversion rate basically means that for each 1.609km there is 1 mile so you divide the given km by the conversion rate.
You do this because out of those 450km you have one mile per 1.609km.

450km/ 1.609km = 279.67...miles (then round to the appropriate number)
