Oh lawd, this thread is ancient lol.

I only have one that I sleep with at night. It's a Fox and his name is Mr. Foxie =3
Seven years of age is he and already in bloody war
His eyes do not turn away from all that death and gore
Father Dracul and brother Mircea are riding by his side
Proud he is of his warrior father, no matter he lied!

Ummm...I stopped sleeping with plushies when I was a wee lad, but I often sleep cuddled up with my Nagant. Loaded but no round chambered. I don't want to wake up with a hole in my foot.
Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care?

When I feel down or vulnerable I tend to sleep with one plushie - its my representative one.  A black and white cat.  Other than that, I keep a few of mine on a shelf next to my computer desk, and a load in the wardrobe at my parent's house.

I just think of it as being prepared; I'm always armed in one way or another.

And it won't seem like such a crazy idea the next time some one breaks in. A gun is something I'd rather have on hand and not need, than need and not have.

and the Mosin Nagant was a family of rifles standard issue in the Russian Army from the early 1890's until the late 1940's, though many East Bloc countries issued it in some capacity for decades longer. It's one of my favorite guns.

And how is it wrong? Some people attach sentimental value to stuffed animals, why can't I attach sentimental value to my guns?

Personally, I think it'd be just as effective next to your bed, or with a pistol under your pillow.  Actually sleeping with your rifle in bed with you sounds kinda psycho-creepy.  Not really wrong, just scary, and not in a good way.

I keep a rifle in a special rack mounted under the edge of my bed (it's a hardwood waterbed), it's just as effective in a break-in :-P

yeah but don't you see? his riffle is his precious. just remember what may seem weird and psyco to some is perfectly normal to the one doing it, just like the furry fandom.

Exactly. Like some people love that one teddy bear they've had since they were little, I love that rifle. It was a bunch of firts. First military rifle, first surplus, and first centerfire, in addition to it being a gift from my dad, so it holds a special place in my heart. Odd as it may sound, and I'm willing to admit that it does.

You are not creepy, I once had a friend who kept a fully loaded WWII era Russian Submachine gun next to his bed and a bunch of LOADED AND COCKED rifles in his closet. (His family was military)...that was kind of scary.

I have an unbelievable amount of canine paraphenalia, or whatever you would call it.  Most of it's just to add some...uhhh...flavor to my bland bedroom, but I did have this stuffed triceratops when I was younger...
I think I named it after Martin Luther King Jr.
Yeah, he's still hanging around my room, somewhere, but it's as though when I grew up, he dissapeared--all the personality is gone from something I once cherished.  Sad, but true.

lol, doesnt go unarmed much... i guess no hand-to-hand-combat experience/training yet? about the only times i go 'armed' are when i go for walks with my mom and one of my legs is messed up in one way or another, in which case i grab a staff/walking stick because i'm not too bad with a long stick for being self-taught. or when i go hiking, and then i almost always have a knife at my belt for handiness purposes. but a loaded gun IN BED? ... lol i'd hate to be your significant other ;p  ......but anyway... i dont sleep witha plushie as of now, but that will probably change soon (looking for good plushies other than beanie babies, something a little more sizeable lol).
So long, and thanks for all the fish.
