spam board concerns
« on: December 20, 2015, 05:02:32 pm »
It seems like I'm getting nowhere with this.... Ugghh
The spam boards are the only thing active and it seems like people are posting stuff that belongs in spam in threads outside of that.
Also its the same 5 people quoting each other and leaving others out.
A lot of people are getting ignored as the looks of it
I thought we said we were going to include everyone in conversations, some friends of mine are feeling left out it seems. I know there aren't much of us left anymore but that doesn't mean we can't make this a better community
I should of posted this is spam so people would see it

Yeah I've noticed that the spam boards have been the most active recently, that's why I've been trying to post a bit more in other places as well. But sometimes people just don't know what to post about so they go to spam because it's fun.

Yup, I noticed, I personally am trying to be more active outside of spam because I know I have way over the amount of posts I should have there... but it's kinda hard when spam is the only thing active :/

I actually thought there was a fairer balance now with posting in boards, as compared to a few months ago. I have two threads in Artwork which I update quite frequently, and I will leave a few comments weekly in General Chatter as opposed to other boards.

Well, we only ban people from the Spam board once a month (the procedure used to do it is really resource-heavy) so thats gonna happen soon, but we shouldn't have to rely on that :/

Just gonna add, Iwoke up half an hour ago and when iI looked at replies to your posts, most of it was spam. That same goes for the unread posts since last visit. :/

It can't be argued that spam is very active. It would be nice to see the main boards equally as active.

Well you have to keep in mind ( the last time I was here) the spam section does not add to your post count...
I think that we need a solution... [dur! I'm a genius!]
here is my input. We could...
try a "misc." area?
try an "archive" area that filters out posts that have not been replied to for X amount of time.
have a limit to the amount of nested replies that you can post in a thread for x amount of messages...
what do you guys think? :???:

Yeah, even in my short time here I noticed that Spam does get more attention (That's fairly normal though, general off-topic areas like HF's Underground or BBF's Kagutsuchi Town Square get way more traffic over all). And just like with every forum I went on I try to avoid posting in Spam even if there's a new response until I've posted/commented in a few other topics on say General Chatter to keep it even, since I definitely do not want to see this place turn out like HF did last time I was there, with only Underground and the 18+ section being the only active parts of the site.

Hah.... Yeah, I'm a bit guilty, I don't do a lot of spam relatively speaking, but a good chunk of my posts lately are there with some sparse roleplaying as well.... It's a personal problem for some of us... A bad one

I KNOWWW RIGHT?

I just really don't want people looking at my profile going "oh! this guy has a couple posts! let's see the topic he posts the most in!" and then see "Spam & Testing boards" and then go "oh what a faker!!"

I just wish there was a way to unnotify from span threads ;~;. Speaking of which, it doesn't actually unnotify my fro threads even though I have technically 'unnotified'

I just wish there was a way to unnotify from span threads ;~;. Speaking of which, it doesn't actually unnotify my fro threads even though I have technically 'unnotified'
The Notify/Unotify buttons at the bottom of each thread refer to email notifications. If you click that notify button you'll get an email everytime someone posts, if you click unotify you'll stop recievimg email notifications about that thread. Those buttons are completely unrelated to the "show unread" and "show new replies" buttons at the top of the page. Those buttons are programmed into the forum software itself, we have no way to change them. They don't have a way to pick and choose, if you posted in a thread and someone else has made a new post in that thread it'll show up there, or if someone has made a new post since you're last visit it'll show up there too. We can't change this unfortunately. Alternatively you could check for new posts by visiting each board individually (on the left side of the page there is little icons that will be bolded if there's new posts) and just skip the boards/theads that are not interesting to you. This is what I usually do c:
