Replacing/upgrading consoles
« on: January 03, 2016, 11:43:24 am »
Do you ever think it's worth it to upgrade a games console? Or any other electronic?

By that I mean, selling an old console (e.g. Xbox 360) and buying the latest one (Xbox One).

Have you ever done it?

I sold my 3DS & bought a 3DS XL & I think it was definitely worth it. Even though I lost out on some money because obviously I couldn't sell the 3DS for the full price of an XL it was worth upgrading because it's way easier playing on that bigger screen. So, yeah.

Well I sold my 360 in order to pay for my Xbox One. 360 looks like potato graphics going back. Yeah, I'd say it's worth it. Almost all of my friends have moved on to current gen.

I would be upset to lose the old one tbh  :sad-fox:
But if you need the money it may be worth it, especially if the old games are still compatible and your not planning on using it anymore. :fox-:):

I didn't sell my 360 because there's still games on there that I like playing.
Waiting for Burnout Paradise to come to Xbox One. Criterion confirmed it.
Might scrap the 360 once all the decent games come to One.
Strength and Honour!

Still proud of this rainbow!

Yeah I did lose a lot of people's friend codes that were on my 3DS. :[ And I was attached to it too. Just glad my friend was there in the shop when I sold it otherwise I would have wimped out.

I cant vouch for consoles, but for my PC, its a must, but I dont do it yearly like a lot of others do, I just recently rebuilt my computer after 5 years, spent maybe 900 to 1000 on it.  So, more or less, 200$ a year?  Not bad imo :) Worth it

I get personally attached to my consoles so I couldn't even consider trading them in to upgrade to the current gen. This is why I still have a PlayStation 1 in my house.
That being said, the benefits are definitely there when they are applicable, obviously having games in your library that may never be reverse compatible (To about the value of $235 spent on these games) does not translate well when the upgrade  comes and the benefit amount you get for trading is about $150, but if I didn't have Blazblue CT through to Blazblue CS Extend, as well as both P4A and P4AU, I'd definitely have considered that $150 off worth it.

Computers, yes. Upgrade the hardware as time goes on and as your savings increase.

Oh definitely, there's no way I could ever "Trade up"  I much prefer the older systems over any of the newer consoles.  Got my SNES, NES, GC, N64, PS1 and PS2 sitting right here ready to be played!
