Songs You Used to Hate
« on: January 03, 2016, 01:05:10 pm »
I don't know about other people, but sometimes I hate a song and then eventually grow to love it.
Some of them I can think of: The Phoenix by Fall Out Boy. I didn't hate it per se, but it was completely unremarkable when I first listened to it. I added it to my Spotify anyway, and now it's one of my favorite jams :fox-:):
Also, any song on the top 40 stations from late 2011 - early 2012 fits this bill because it was mostly good times back then, and any song from then invokes a lot of nostalgia. At the time I was also going through this weird rebel phase, so I hated pretty much everything on the radio :/

Cause I swear, I'd burn the city down to show you the light

If I don't reply to you or take a very long time to do so, don't take it personally! I'm bad with words and people and socializing, so, uh, I don't really talk much when I don't feel like I need to. I'm really sorry!

Used to find the song replay (by iyaz) annoying cos it kept replaying and repeating its lyrics. Then i replayed it many times and after replaying it I started to like it and replayed it some more lol I think I said replay too many times there  :blush-fox:

I never hated this song, but I used to not be that fond of Al Stewart's song Year of the Cat. My dad would occasionally play it from his computer, and it was a bit long and boring to me at the time.

But now Al Stewart's my favorite musical artist, I know all of his songs, I've read/listened to probably every interview of his on the internet, have 13 of his albums total (10 vinyl records, many are duplicates, and 8 CDs), have met him in person twice, have 16 signatures of his, have two signed posters hanging above my desk, and have spend probably close to $600 on various Al Stewart things.

So yeah, basically I like that song now.

If you've seen my posts you might know I like The Residents. I used to hate them, a lot. And now they're one of my favorite bands. But this thread is about a specific song so how about Picnic Boy.

I used to not like Maps by Maroon 5 at all. I didn't hate it, it just wasn't my style. I don't really listen to it a lot, but I like it more now heheh. I suppose it grew on me. :fox-:P:

Dead milkmen, with songs like watching scotty die.
They're fucking talentless, and they have no idea what they're doing.
And it's grown on me.
Listened to all their songs with my parents on a six hour car trip. No regrets.

There is the field where scotty used to play,
untill ortho-orange number 42 was dumped in it one day
I think it's so funny, I laugh until I cry,
Just me and god, watching scotty dieeeeee

Every country song ever.

I'm not joking. I used to despise country music. I live in a state where 70% of people around me are farmers, and nearly everyone in this state listens to it. I used to hate it for so long because all the concerts at the state fair would be country, and any rock concerts wouldn't be on the grand concert pass. I finally started to grow on it because my best friend likes country, and he used to play it on Plug.dj(unfortunately that's down now), so I just kind of started to enjoy it.

I still despise the song Let It Go by Demi Lovato from Disney's Frozen. It was one of the most annoying songs from an absolutely annoying film. When I first heard the song and when I first watched the movie, I thought that it was fine. It wasn't what I'd want to be absolutely crazy over, but it was fine. The fans of the film flooded my life with what seemed to be torture. My neices sang music from the movie constantly and it's all I heard from many people. The fans ruined the movie and the music.

I remember I really didn't care for this when it came out, but it grew on me, not a favorite, but a good song for me to listen to now :)
Flo Rida - Good Feeling
P.S. I don't really enjoy the "new music" per say, but I do love 80's, rock music (late 70's and on), some gaming/focus/chillstep/edm (whatever it's called), and I like some classics too :)

Just like a burn will linger, she crept between my fingers, and to my body she has now become a new disease. A fog to cloud vision, more like an apparition. She made a mess and now abandoned me.

I still despise the song Let It Go by Demi Lovato from Disney's Frozen.
Let it go from the movie was by Idina Menzel not Demi Lovato. There is a version by Demi but that's likely not the one you're hearing everywhere. I'm a huge fan of Frozen and love Let it Go by Idina but the Demi version sucks :fox-:P:

I wasn't a huge fan of Defying Gravity when I first heard it but now it's one of my favourite songs! There is also a bunch of pop songs that I hated when I first heard them but enjoy them now. A few examples that I can think of (some are really old) would be Tik Tok, Shake it off, Dynamite, Wildest Dreams, Riptide and many more

all of Andrew Jackson Jihad.
First time I heard it I figured it was just some batshit insane guy with a guitar.
Then I listened to the lyrics and connected with 'em.
But, now it's my favorite band.

Oh goodness so many I had a terrible taste in music when I was younger.
I never used to like any of the genres I listen to now. But there is one song in particular that has really grown on me.
