MBTI Personality Types
« on: January 05, 2016, 11:39:58 pm »
Just curious, do any of you take interest in the MBTI personality types? If you do, do you enjoy typing people/characters? And what is your type? I'm an INTP. I think it's really cool researching what types characters from books and TV shows might be.

Haha, here's something really funny: I actually took the test a while ago and I wrote down my personality type somewhere and then I LOST IT, lol! I think I'm an INFP or an INTJ, something like that. :fox-:P:

Aw man, unfortunate you lost it, haha! At least you seem to know you're introverted and intuitive from what you can tell. Just to let you know, if you ever plan on learning more about the types, it's suggested you look into the different cognitive functions. (Such as Ni, Ti, Fe, etc.) While it is more understandable to explain the types through the four letters, the MBTI personalities truly boil down to the different functions. Since I'm an INTP, that means that I use Ti, Ne, Si, and Fe (and in that order, too). I'm trying to understand them better, because I'm honestly a bit inexperienced on how they each play a part in how we think/behave as well, but it's worth it to learn about them if you're interested in MBTI.

INTP as well, although I am only slightly on the P side. I've taken a few different versions over the years and have gotten INTP on all but one or maybe two earlier ones that said INTJ, so I go with the former. It's funny reading your type's description (with strengths and weaknesses) and being almost alarmed at how accurate it is  :fox-:P:

Thanks for that advice, I probably will retake the test because I've changed a lot over time and I'll look into the functions too :)

I'm an ENFP and I love it!

Something I've noticed about these personality tests and how the personalities are described - there's always a really positive connotation to them, no matter how introverted, or how judging, or whatever. They always make it a point to let you know what you do well and how you can thrive. So for me at least, if I'm ever down or stressed or anything, I usually think, "I'm a f***in' ENFP, dangit, and I can do this" and things usually get done.

Though that might just be my personality type. >_>

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test is a way to find out what type of personality you have. According to the test, there's 16 different possible personalities, shown with a sequence of 4 letters (like ENFP, INTJ, etc.).

The letters represent different aspects of your personality. Here's what the different letters mean:

Extroversion vs Introversion
iNtuitive vs Sensing
Thinking vs Feeling
Judging vs Perceiving

So my type, ENFP, means Extroversion, Intuitive, Feeling, Perceiving.

Each personality leans towards one of these attributes in each pair. Keep in mind that no one type is better than another, they all have entirely different strengths and weaknesses. Some variations of the test accommodate for placement somewhere along each of the spectrums, as opposed to a direct one side or the other.

You can take the official test and get extra information specific to you at some testing centers, some counselors do it, etc. There's also a pretty decent free online one with a lot of helpful info here:

http://www.16personalities.com/

I hope this helped a bit! I really like the whole psychology thing behind different personalities, so I study this type of thing maybe a bit much. >_> Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions! :lol-fox:

I know we already have a topic like this somewhere, I'll have to find it when my internet becomes less crappy

Anyways, I'm an INFP  :fox-:P: Actually pretty amusing because when I first took the test a couple years ago, I was INFJ. Then I re-took it for school last year and ended up as an INFP :fox-:P: I guess I just never thought of them changing over time, its cool to see that change though

The last time I took the test I was INTP (I haven't taking it recently).

When I first took it i was INTJ (agess ago)

But some tests think I'm ENTP and others INFP. So its seems I don't have a stable type. Maybe INTP is most fitting though but I still have Extravert (often a 48 to 52 percent ratio) and feeling tendencies too (I'm still more perceiving). I'm not as Judging as I used to be perhaps..  But I take these tests with a pinch of salt. It's interesting though

It apparently has a 75% success rate, according to Wikipedia. I get INTP, as a side note.

I actually remember making a topic about this a while ago, I'm an INTP (I took a test as a starter, but then I researched the types and cognitive functions further to prove my typing).

I take interest in MBTI as well and would be willing to talk about it.
(I'm not an expert or anything though so don't expect that much from me)
