The Pros and Cons of Having Ears
« on: February 11, 2016, 07:45:07 pm »
If this has already been made... Well too bad, I'm making it now (but still do your modding stuff if necessary)

This one, I'm allowing to concern your fursona species as well. So for example, if your fursona has internal ears, then state the pros and cons of that.

My fursona has perky, triangular fox ears so here are some of my pros and cons:

Pros
-Better ear muscle strength for easier movement
-They look cute
-They have fur to keep them warm when it gets chilly outside

Cons
-Headwear is going to be a pain to modify to fit
-Ears can be more easily crushed
-And a subjective con, that I will be able to hear things a lot easier, and unfortunately, most sounds in my life have not been pleasent so far. But I would still consider it to be proish, because I like having sensitive hearing.

With regards to fox ears:

Pros
-Insanely good hearing
-Another method of expression
-The way they look
-The fur = built-in earmuffs that don't impede hearing
-The fact that they're friggin fox ears

Cons
-Might get closed in or caught on stuff
-Will have to use earbuds (earbuds hurt my ears >_<)

Cons
-Headwear is going to be a pain to modify to fit
-Ears can be more easily crushed

I don't think these would be cons. Fox ears are flexible and squishy enough that I don't think they would get in the way of any kind of headgear. At most, it would be a bit uncomfortable, like hat-hair.

Yeah, I hate earbuds with a passion. But I feel that they would probably develope a special type of headset for foxes that fit over their ears or something.

And sure our ears my be squishy, but having the constantly pressed down will definitely hurt after a short while.

The better hearing would be awsome but hats/helmets would be pretty much useless without a lot of redesign.

Ears contribute to the auditory vitals of humans and nearly every other animal on Earth. They're absolutely necessary in every species. What would life be like without sound? Without ears, we wouldn't have language or music and the sharing of information would be hard to explain. Imagine if your teacher couldn't explain to you theoretical physics while being completely silent. How difficult would that be? Unfortunately, sound would amplified quite significantly and several auditory accessories would not fit animalistic ears. Certain frequencies of noise are unbearable for me (there's one song I think of that I can't listen to because of the pitch of the ambiant chime) and frequency range would be even more increased causing discomfort. Also, headphones such as Bose aren't designed to fit that physique. You might be able to fit earbuds in instead of headphones, but headphones are definately better than earbuds in my opinion.

Ears would have a bunch of befits: better hearing, more expression, they are able to keep themselves warm if they're furry. The only disadvantage I can see is that hats and other headwear would become uncomfortable . I would definitely take a pair of ears :fox-:P:

I'll take my DAD, Sprite to use as my example. He has tall long pointy and semi-furry ears.

Pros:
Very good hearing.
Could be some fun.

Cons:
Headgear would have to be modified for ears and horns.
Earbuds would be the only option for headphones.
Could become an annoyance while cleaning up.
