WHAT THE FLIP IS A 72-GON?!?!?!?!?
« on: February 16, 2016, 10:51:38 am »
I'm in math rn and a question showed up on our worksheet that said

What is the sum of the measure of the interior angles of a regular 72-gon?
A. 6480°
B. 12,600°
C. 12,960°
D. 13,320°

Btw this is what one looks like apparently (I looked it up...)

Ooh! This is one thing I actually kinda remember from Geometry last year!  :lol-fox:

Okay, so the formula for the angles of an n-gon, where n is the number of sides, is (n-2)*180
That means that, for a 72-gon, the formula would be (72-2)*180
For a 19-gon, the formula would be (19-2)*180
etc.

Does that help?  :lol-fox:

Don't let the number intimidate you, you can actually figure it out with a very simple formula! :fox-:):

Every triangle has 180 degrees. The number of triangles formed inside any polygon can be represented as (n-2), n being the number of sides. So, to find out the sum of the interior angles, all you have to do is plug 72 into the equation 180(n-2).

So here's how you'd solve it:

180(72 - 2)
180(70)
12,600

Hope this helps!
