So I just got the game and I decided that it was a good idea to not use tutorials. also I'm gonna keep doing that.
Just wondering if any of you have it, If you might have any tips (preferably for combat), etc.

Gimballed weapons may be easy to use but are useless in pvp since most smart pvp players will use dual chaff launchers to prevent you from targeting at a constant rate so if you expect to run into hostile players make sure you have some fixed weapons, but usually its not an issue I haven't been attacked by any players yet, well skilled players that is. Just stay in populated areas where it's just too dangerous to bother attacking other players.

Also would advise upgrading the life support on ships unless you want a terrible death from cockpit canopy destruction.

Bounty hunting is usually the best way to earn money but with the starter sidewinder you'll want to tag along with someone in a better ship or make sure whatever wanted criminal is also being attacked by ai bounty hunters/police.

Another thing about bounty hunting is ALWAYS wait for initial scan to complete before opening fire or else you get wanted for shooting them even if they turn out to be wanted after the scan completes (which imo is a totally stupid thing they should fix).

And my last tip would be WATCH YOUR FIRE, there is no accidental shot forgiveness game mechanic it seems so if someone flies into your shots that is innocent then you get wanted. It's very dumb and has screwed me over several times but we just have to deal with it until enough people complain for them to fix it.

These are various sites that are helpful:

http://coriolis.io/  This site lets you "build" ships before buying them and calculate various things like how much power they use and the cost.

http://elitetradingtool.co.uk/   This site has a trade calculator and tools to help find places with certain commodities.

http://roguey.co.uk/elite-dangerous/equipment/   This site helps with finding what stations sell what equipment with the ability to list the nearest ones.

http://arkku.com/elite/hud_editor/  This site is a neat little tool to help you customize your HUD color to something you want, I would advise you try to pick a combination that allows you to differentiate hostile ships from neutral and friendly ships however.

Thanks! So far, I`ve only been bounty hunting with my friends and playing cqc. As I`ve been told, cqc tourneys are a good way to get money too.

Big ships can't turn as fast so put on gimballed or turret weapons on them.

There are four types of damage: Thermal, kinetic, thermal kinetic, and explosive.

Thermal weapons have unlimited ammo, but overheat fast. They do more damage to shields, but less damage to hull

Kinetic weapons use ammo, but generate less heat and use less energy. They do less damage to shield, but more damage to hull

Thermal kinetic weapons use ammo, generate a lot of heat, and use a lot of energy, but they do a lot of damage to shields and can easily penetrate armor

Explosive weapons are expensive (especially the homing missiles), small ammo supplies, and do next to no damage to shields, but do massive damage to hull
