How do you listen to music usually?
« on: May 08, 2016, 04:23:11 pm »
Don't get me wrong, I like Spotify- or rather I like its convenience; millions of tunes right there for free. I also LOVE how they are trying to crack down on music piracy. I just personally prefer nothing better than slamming on some 12" vinyls- its just the pure and simple feeling that for me adds to the experience I think. Now my current audio set up is I have my Pioneer record player, and Bose speakers with a Sonos Connect that allows me to wirelessly play MP3s, so I'm not such a technophobe really. I love Sonos also (when it works) cos I can pick what I want to play from my phone. I just feel that the physical connection that people used to have with playing music is being lost- changing.
Vinyl's coming back though- the surge of *dramatic dun dun DUUUN!* The Hipsters. I'm not a hipster at all, I'm just a music buff.
How about you? Anyone else prefer vinyl or CDs as to Spotify and MP3s (iTunes etc.)

I just YT stuff mainly, the quality doesn't bug me though I'm sure best quality MP3s and records are so much better at least in a good room.

I mainly use Spotify for songs I don't have vinyls of (which is most songs  :fox-:P:) but if I have the vinyl of it, I'll use a record player!  :lol-fox:

My MP3 player that I bought(stole) from my brother, I'd use Youtube or well my computer but I really only listen to music when I draw and using anything on the computer to listen to music kinda lags my program and stutters the music too much X3

It varies ... I usually listen to YouTube when I want to hear songs that I don't own or if I just want to listen to individual songs, but my favorite way of listening to music is vinyl records, which I also do a lot (I collect them). Also CDs, but I really prefer records.

I think MP3s are superior to C.D.s simply because of their logistics and quality. You have to have a disc in order to listen to C.D. music. Discs are scratched and they can easilly be lost. When they're scracthed, the audio tends to skip a lot or simply not play at all. Another disadvantage of C.D.s is the way in which their played. C.D.s require a C.D. player and you're not always going to be around one. The players also tend to deteriate over time as the reader wares down. MP3s are completely digital and can easilly be installed on almost any electronic device. MP3s can't be scratched, but they can be corrupted which should be no problem if you back-up your data and practice keen care. MP3 files can't simply be lost. One of the most useful advantages is their ability to be listened to from anywhere you have your phone at anytime. Also, you obtain a more personal music experience if you use earphones. The sound quality of MP3s is also better because the device simply has to read the data from a script while the script has to be transferred with a C.D.

I'm trying to collect vinyl personally. The downside here is that they aren't very portable. Instead I buy most of my music in FLAC format from Tidal, then put it on my phone and listen to it through headphones. Anything I don't have in hi-fi I use Googly Play Music for.

Sidenote- I buy my vinyls alongside an MP3 copy so that way I have a clean digital copy to listen to on the go.
I think vinyls are a great thing to collect. (ie I have Adele's new album 25 on vinyl and I expect that in 20 years it will probably triple in value).

I usually listen to my music on my phone, it's all downloaded stuff that I purchased from iTunes. Sometimes I'll also use YouTube when I'm at home/connected to wifi (as it takes up to much cell data) to listen to songs I haven't purchased

Same, exept I listen to my Ipod more than CDs, and I hum and sing, A LOT, I'm actually pretty good and can hit some low notes. Back Records, one of my favorite ones is a U2 album called War.

I mainly use Spotify and YouTube. Used to have CD but I am kinda a cheap shot and can't spend that much money on CDs. I also listen to radio. I listen to a local station that always has rock music from the 80s-90s.
