What does your name mean?
« on: June 11, 2016, 11:59:48 am »
I've recently started going by Saturn because 1) it's more masculine than Venja and 2) a certain Sleeping at Last song reminds me an awful lot of my first life. Saturn is the name of the Roman god of agriculture, and it's the sixth ringed planet in the solar system.
My name is actually a funny story! Valentine was my "starting title," after one of Saturn's favorite artists. I liked the nickname Val, but I didn't feel like Valentine was fitting. We looked up a list of names that had Val for nicknames, and my favorites were Valin and Vallis. I liked Valin because it still sounded like my original name, but Vallis sounded weird aloud. It turns out that Valin means "monkey king," and I thought it was silly so I had to go with it!

I originally went by Grey but didn't like it very much. I remember going on thesaurus.com and searching for grey synonyms. Ash was one that came up and it stuck. Only odd thing is that apparently there's a Pokemon named Ash as well and people keep referencing that to me :fox-:P: When writing this, I remembered that the name actually was kinda copying my ex's online name (can't say specifics but it ended with Grey). Still a cool name but I'm glad I changed it to Ash now, remembering that  :sad-fox: Not the most pleasant memories with her I have to say

I chose Vex because it was a name in Skyrim and I liked it!  :fox-:P:
And Sirius because I didn't like his former name (Kevin) and I was thinking about stars, which is usually the first place I look for new character names, and I happened to be thinking about Harry Potter at the time, and ta-da!!! Sirius!  :lol-fox:

Well Originally Colour was going to be a completely different name until a friend of mine commented that I was spelling colored wrong. I retorted that I was spelling it the British way and named him that as a place holder to annoy people. It just ended up sticking and now I would not think of changing it.

This is what google told me:
Z letter form meaning in ZOHMA. Symbol of great energy, the shape of Z reminds us of alertness, lightning or even the signing of Zorro in the service of the truth, and justice for the poor. This letter embodies financial security at its base(material), justice through action(the central antenna), and reasoning (the horizontal antenna from the top).

O letter form meaning in ZOHMA. A simple circle that offers no opening, but that surrounds you and holds you to not go back. He knows how to turn things around. This beautiful roundness emits softness and harmony. Has no beginning and no end. This letter does not like square things, he loves curves, comfort and stability. One could compare it to a magnifying glass that would observe the stars and distant horizons.

H letter form meaning in ZOHMA. Its form suggests two vertical antenna which depart from the bottom (matter) and are projected upward (spirit). You can move from one antenna to the other by the horizontal bar that represents the emotional level. No curves to justify any sweetness, just the right angles that make a trip down to earth very difficult.

M letter form meaning in ZOHMA. Standing firmly on two legs, the M seems to own the ground beneath it. Enclosing information of earthly and material natures. It offers little to no outward openings and its standing is heavy and imposing, which probably explains its slowness and rigidity.

A letter form meaning in ZOHMA. His position is as solid as the Chinese wall. Having a solid foundation, the A is protective and reassuring. His horizontal line supports its strength at central level. You can think of this letter as a powerful energy capacitor or a missile ready to take off.

Well, I'm big into Sci fi fantasy shows like Dr. Who, Star Wars, Star Trek(not that much), and I wanted to be unique so I decided to be a hybrid between a cyborg and a wolf. The name followed along with it being half cyborg and other half furry. Scifur.

Idk what it means but its the name of a character I used in one of my games, I liked the name for awhile but only started using it recently(like for a year). The reason for its use is a bit personal though.

Well, Jonatan is close to my actual first name (Joonatan) but sounds more English so it fits here better. I was going to go for Jonathan but that was already taken. It means "God gave" in Hebrew I think.

Funny story, Ajax was the first name to pop into my mind when I was thinking of well...a name for my new sona! It fit well with the desert-wanderer personality of my character and how he was silent but strong. Now if we're talking about Sam the name was derived from Samuel, which means "God has heard". Kind of relates to how my life was going at the time due to me being in a catholic school and how it seemed my life was turning around. Finally we have Sean, the name I go by in real life and online...I really chose it as I felt it fit me better than my real name :3.

Clayton: I suppose I was looking for a name that was not too bizarre, but not too generic either. When I look it up, the name itself means something having to do with clay settlements in Old English. I suppose he could also be named after the county I live in (also Clayton) and the county was named after a judge who served on my state's general assembly.

I thought Len meant nothing (There's a band, an Irish mythology character - weird, I'm irish - and a vocaloid), but I looked it up and it's a German name that means "brave" or "bold".

I really like Doctor Who (though I can't find the old ones to watch) And a big thing in there is Bad Wolf. I also lived in Japan for a while and really enjoyed it there, so I combined them and have Warui Kami, translating to Bad Wolf in Japanese.

The first name I went by online ever was Komatz. I want to say it meant wolf in Blackfoot, but I don't remember too well, and Google will neither confirm nor deny. From there it went to Harlan, which I think I saw the name on the cover of a Harlan Coben book and thought it sounded cool. >_>

Then there's Kambo. It's a nickname some call me IRL, and it's a fun one.

Dex means "a right-handed man" or "one who is skillful", it may also be a Latin variant of Dexter.

Honestly, when I was looking for a name I wanted something that had an 'X' in it. I went through the alphabet and liked Dex but not most of the names it usually comes from so I stuck with it.

Alastair is the Scottish form of Alexander, so it means "defender of man".

Ivan is Russian and means "gracious gift from God".
