Dog Issues
« on: May 20, 2017, 11:04:22 am »
(Disclaimer I'm not asking for medical advice)
Most of you know I have a chihuahua terrier mix named Tito
For the past week he's been in and out of the local animal hospital
He was having trouble eating, drinking, moving, etc even vomiting
I got a test done and it showed that he's having severe liver issues. They think its a tumor. I'm going back Monday to get him a scan. If it is a tumor he may not make it and they will suggest to put him down before he gets worse.
How do I prepare myself for this if he does happen to pass?
I've known him 11 years out of his 14 years. I feel like its going to really mess me up emotionally. I know I need to accept it and appreciate the time I had with him. But I'm just getting really upset thinking about it.

I haven't personally gone through this kind of situation, but I can relate in a few ways. My dog's doing well currently, but she's going to be 10 at the end of the year. She's getting older. I used to just start crying when thinking about her eventually passing... I still do if I think about it long enough.
So what I can suggest is, like you said, appreciate the time you had with him. Hold on to the good memories. Know that you did what you could to make sure he had a good life. I'm sure he's been happy to have a loving owner. :fox-:):
Allow yourself to cry and go through the "grieving process" or whatever it's called- It's normal to feel lots of different emotions after the death of someone you care about. It isn't good to hold it all in. If you need to, talk to someone who can help you work through those feelings, especially if you're having difficulty with it all. Things will get better. *hugs*

I knew a dog for many of my years. She passed away only last year. It still hurts sometimes, but the only thing I can say is: it will pass.
