Games that are good with a backseat gamer
« on: August 12, 2016, 03:32:51 am »
I have a friend, and a thing we like to do is play video games while the other one watches. We haven't really had many good games for this recently, and I was wondering if any of you know good games for backseat gaming, where one person is just watching. Two games that I already know were pretty good for this were Spyro: A hero's tail, and Paper Mario and The Thousand Year Door.

If you like Spyro then maybe try playing "The legend of Spyro" trilogy. It's a great game because there are a bunch of hidden things that you'd need the eyes of others to see.
"Dawn of the dragon" is the best game of the series but you'd need to play the other two in order to understand it. What makes this one better than the others is that it add a coop option at any time.

I think most RPGs are pretty good for this. Especially the ones with lots of different items, quests, secrets, etc. For example, my and my roommate pass a copy of Bloodborne back and forth and totally backseat game each other, which makes it more fun for us. The Zelda games are pretty good for this as well!

most games with a set storyline are good. Or puzzle games, since you can put your heads together.

I personally have played StarFox Adventures (gamecube) where we rotated as backseat gamer and player. It was fun and we both had fun making it through the game.

I'll list a few others that i've enjoyed:

-Luigi's mansion
- Super mario galaxy games
- Oblivion, Skyrim, ect (?)
Robbie Rotten is my daddy

Similar to what Kambo said, I think that Bloodborne or Dark Souls games would be a great choice.

Any of David Cages games are absolutely great to play with friends. They're all heavily narrative based and focus on choices that you make. His games include Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit in Europe), Heavy Rain, and his newest title, Beyond: Two Souls. Heavy Rain is the more realistic game, but the other two would appeal to you if you like super natural occurances. I think Heavy Rain is the best. I will mention to that his last two games are only for PlayStation systems, so it may be a problem if you don't have one. It seems like you really enjoy platformer games. For that, I'll reccomend to you Ratchet and Clank. Once again, it's a PlayStation exclusive, but it's a very good game. They actually remade it recently for release on the PlayStation 4 system.

When i was little, my friends and I would always take turns playing GTA while the others watched. It was entertaining to watch my friends to random stuff.

Both Mario Galaxy, and I think Mario Galaxy 2, are good, one/both of them actually have a second player option that's basically back seat gaming. Most RPG's and MMO's that I know of are good as well for that.

I think games like Portal would be good. If a friend gets stuck on a level you can help them out. Skyrim too. I remember watching my friend play it for the first time and she kept going the wrong way or attacking the wrong people, and I'd have to help her out.

All of the Dark Souls games as you watch your friend struggle endlessly as you refuse to tell them anything you may know to help them. Just the Dark Souls experience. -w-
