Favorite movie based on visuals
« on: September 04, 2016, 04:38:26 pm »
Plenty of movies have great stories, characters, etc. that make them amazing. But movies can also have extraordinary visuals. So, if you were only looking at the visuals, like animation or special effects, what would be your favorite movie? Mine would be Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'hoole, because of its outstanding animation. Every owl looks so incredibly real, and every scene is so wonderfully beautiful. Even if you don't like the movie itself, you have to admit it's gorgeous.

The visuals in "How to train your dragon 2" were absolutely stunning! That would have you be my favorite one not to mention the story for it was amazing and the character improvement was spectacular

I liked the graphics in James Cameron's Avatar. James Cameron made the fictional planet of Pandora look absolutely beautiful. It had lush green forests with plenty of fluorescent colors, especially green and blue. The sky was beautiful as well with plenty of bright colors. We see several other goof examples of graphics in the movie with the C.G.I. graphics. They paid good attention and made them look realistic yet out of fantasy, something no other film has seemed to capture as well as Avatar. The special effects are also very bright and vibrant, something you could only come to expect out of James Cameron.

Avatar is definitely up there in my favorites, that was a beautiful movie from visuals to story to music to setting. I loved it and I have the extended cut collector's edition (you thought the theatrical release was ridiculously long? think again).

I think my favorite if I had to pick off the top of my head would be Tron: Legacy. That movie was beautiful and had masterful world building, and they did a spectacular job of bringing the feel of the original Tron into 21st century CGI. The storyline and acting, while I didn't think they were as bad as the critics did, weren't the greatest either. The soundtrack was absolutely brilliant though- it was some of Daft Punk's best work, and I say that as a Daft Punk fan (I'm actually wearing one of their shirts today, lol).

In animation, the most realistic and amazing I've seen, has to be How to Train Your Dragon and it's sequel. In sets and special effects, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, because not a single expense was spared to give it the best sets and graphics of its time.

If we're talking about CG then Avatar definitely, its been years since it first released and the visuals are still breathtaking.

Now if you mean 2D animation or fully CG movies then idk. I quite enjoyed the visuals in Zootopia tbh and I also love the art and animation style of old Disney movies in general.
