Computer issues I need advice on
« on: December 02, 2016, 09:09:56 am »
I have an Acer aspire 7551
screen flashes every now and then
2 out of 3 USB ports don't work
The browser always stops responding (it can only run Firefox semi smoothly)
My art tablet driver always stops running

Keep in mind I'm from a poor household and I'm currently unemployed since I'm a student
So paying for stuff isn't an option
So please don't be like "buy this buy that buy a new computer"
I'd like help from someone with good experience with computers
I have good experience and my computer used to never turn on but I fixed it up and these are the only issues I'm facing now

If you know how, try restoring windows to factory settings after backing up to a flash drive or a google drive, if you don't want to do that, look up drivers for your PC and your version of Windows.

All of the previous suggestions were good ones. It does indeed sound like a few driver updates ought to help with at least some of those issues. Check for a USB controller driver, art tablet driver, and graphics/display drivers- you should be able to find the latest drivers for everything on Acer's website (excluding the tablet of course).

As for the browser, have you tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it again? I know with chrome you can save your bookmarks to a file so that you can restore them after you uninstall/reinstall. Also just check to make sure you have the most up-to-date version of whichever browser you're trying to use, and you don't have any extensions or plug-ins that are causing it to not work properly.

This isn't super related to your issues, but make sure you have a good antivirus installed and if you haven't run a scan in a while, do so. You might find something that clears up a problem. It's not likely but it's always a possibility and it's good to check every now and then anyways. If you don't have one, I recommend Avast, it's both free and particularly effective.

Avast is definetly the best free one, in my opinion.

MalwareBytes is also a good choice for what it is.

I like AVG free version. And malware bytes as a back up scanner.
AVG and Avast are similar to me though so its personal preference

Also adwcleaner and spybot search and destroy are useful to run. Adwcleaner esp
Pc optimisation is good too like deleting unecessary stuff and disc cleanup

As regards to the browser crashing hopefully its nothing to do with a defective ram or something
Or registry errors from a virus im not sure if that would affect it but ive got those in the past

Its odd that it isnt just one specific browser with an error
