Cultural topics and national/international news
« on: December 04, 2016, 03:35:27 pm »
I'll post links and comments to cultural articles and national/international news (which includes politics). {And maybe other kinds of news like slightly contravertial stuff not sure probably nothing sad like shootings and that unless its relevant}. Feel free to post your own and discuss stuff here. I'll try my best not to be too spammy.

Quote
Kumamon is… well, he’s not exactly a cartoon character, though he does appear in a daily newspaper comic strip. He’s not a brand icon either, like Hello Kitty, though like her, he does not speak and, also like her, his image certainly moves merchandise.
A very popular bear character in Japan. Big like hello kitty. Many regions in Japan have these mascot type characters. Japan are big on this mascot thing, the cute and cuddlyness is a way of expression

According to this most students can't tell the difference between sponsored news and real news. This could lead to misinformation being taken in. It's important to cross reference sources.

'Since the early 19th century, artists have depicted colourful – if sometimes fictional – dinosaurs and prehistoric environments, mingling science with unbridled fantasy. This art is the subject of a new book: Paleoart'
