Independent Reading
« on: February 04, 2017, 06:58:56 pm »
In my English III class, all students are required to read a book and then present it at the end of a designated grading period. My teacher has very strict guidelines on what can and cannot be read. The book must be fiction and the book must never have been made into a movie. I've currently read Watership Down (My teacher excepted the fact that it was a film due to how long ago it was produced.) and its sequel Tales From Watership Down. I still have one more book I need to complete by May, but I'm currently undecided on my final book. I'm asking you for suggestions so that maybe you could help me find a book to read. I like fantasy books the most, especially those about animals. I was really hoping to find one about a goat, but my searches have come empty in no avail. I also like naval warfare, but I think it'd be hard to find fiction books about warships and such. If there are any details I could give to make your reccomendations better, feel free to ask. Also, try to avoid books that are really long or hard to read.

Try out a book from the Redwall series. They're fantasy books about animal adventures, and as far as I know they have no movies. Mossflower is a pretty good one, and a prequel to the whole series.

Eragon is an amazing fantasy book that's been made into a movie :D

It's a boy and his dragon. Like how to train your dragon but tbh if Eragon was written from Sapphira's perspective it'd be "how to train your human"

And I think it fits since it's got somewhat something dealing with animals...

It's a decent sized book though...

I read a really good book some time ago, Peter Raven Under Fire by Michael Molloy. It has navel warfare, and although it includes some historical context, I'm 99% sure it counts as fiction.

Good luck choosing a book!

Brevity is the soul of wit (and signatures), and thus, I will be keeping this on the short side, except I guess it's kind of long now....

You should totally read Firebringer The main characters are red deer, not goats, but it's till really good! And it's not a kids book either, the plots actually pretty serious (but not to serious), and it's fantasy-ish
