Rat thread!
« on: February 17, 2017, 03:42:08 pm »

Hey FT, time for an animal thread >: ))

Anyone like rats? Domestic rats in particular, I'm planning on getting rats once I move :fox-:P:

They're adorable, quite the challenge and rather pricey, but a fairly decent companion-It's a shame how many are very weak and crippled health wise due to mass production in feeder industry (not that I have a problem with nutritional frozen rat feeders, as I am a sucker for reptiles)

Your thoughts on rats FT?

I love rats!!! I'd love to get one but my mom has a fear of them
They're really cute and great overall. The local vet treats rats so that's a plus. They're also small. I love small pets. They're just cuter.
Rats are in my top 5 favorite animals !!

I've met rats before, definitely aren't very small

I was scared of rats, but they're very cute babs once you get to see one in person :fox-:P:

I love rats! I plan on getting a few, but only once I move out since my mom doesn't really like them. Too bad they're so misunderstood.

They're really smart though so that's cool

Rats are so smart too!! My cousin's would respond when their name was called and could do a couple tricks. They're really great companions, especially if you don't have time/room for a cat or dog.

I just learned today that rats have poor eyesight compared to other animals
They seem to detect motion well though

There's always time to talk about rats
Also I don't know if this is true but a lot of vets say its best to interact with your rat when you're in a good positive mood since they can sense tension which makes me think they're magical

Yes

They are magic beans

However I feel like most dommesticated mammals can sense tension/stress, but rats are rather intelligent from what I've seen

I don't mind rats, but I wouldn't have one as a pet. The rodents I'd have as pets instead are:

-Guinea Pigs
-Chinchillas
-Hamsters
-Bunnies/Rabbits

Also, these are not rodents but still small animals I'd welcome:

-Sugar Gliders
-Ferrets

Eck, I've heard Sugar Gliders are a pain in the butt to take care of

Northern Flying Squirrels are almost identical and are easier to keep, but they're hard to find

I'm not a big fan of small animals/rodents, but I have read on them before (mainly rats though)

Also rats make a laughter noise this is so cute omg

Oh yes, similar to the chatter sound a Guniea Pug makes? I've heard its caled purring, they also get a bug eyed (like their eyes pop out a bit) when they're really happy-

And don't worry, I'm going through a rat phase myself

Might hand raise a few pinkies once I have the time and money

I'm still so confused on why I have yet to make a rat sona?!! my only other rat character isn't a sona nor used much if at all...wth?!

I love rats! My friend has two and I play and cuddle with them every time I'm over at their house. I'd love to get one, but my moms afraid of them + I have a cat, so I don't think it would work out very well

I always loved the idea of owning a pet rat! They're so cute! >w< But unfortunately I think they're illegal in my province. :c Mice are allowed but it's just not the same... they're so tiny. So if I ever got one I'd be really scared of accidentally crushing it. That's one reason I wish rats were allowed.
But I'm not able to get more pets at the moment anyway. I'll stick with my doggy. xD

That is rather odd, even domesticated/fancy rats? I believe there is a law where you are unable to care for feral/wild animals, but rats?

Yeah, pet rats aren't allowed in Alberta. At least that's what it says everywhere I search it. XD I'm not sure about feral rats though.
