Retro Gaming anyone?
« on: February 19, 2017, 01:00:48 am »
I'm really into old-school video games. I just love the feeling of playing something from the past. I have a Nintendo 64, a gamecube, and a game boy color. I play them more than my 3DS. Anyone else out there into it?

I've played toooons of Quake III, Doom (one and two), lots o' gameboy games, and right now I'm diving into really old roguelikes from the 90's, and even some MUDs (Iiif i can ever get them to work... x\)

Currently I'm playing a bit of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, pretty fun little game that you can play in-browser.

I haven't had much experience with retro gaming. Most of my vintage gaming experience comes from the Nintendo 64. The main reason is because my hair dresser had a Nintendo 64 in her salon. I remember playing "Super Mario 64" and "Ridge Racer". I've also had some experience with the Vectrex, the first vector graphics console. Of course, I've played classic arcade games such as "Pac-Man" and the ever enduring "Pong". In all honesty, I don't find much enjoyment for the entertainment value of these games. I find them boring and dull from the aspect of entertainment because I've grown up with the modern era of video games. I do have appreciation for the historical significance of the games though. Every single game released has been a progressive step forward to the next generation of gaming. It's hard to believe that "Pong", the most basic game and widely acclaimed ever made, has gave rise to games we enjoy today. Video games have endured a massively evolving history including a crash in the entire industry.
