Does FT have a Folding at Home team?
« on: March 29, 2017, 05:05:27 pm »
I was wondering if FT had a team for folding at home, or if any of the admins planned on making one for FT in the future? I use F@H and it's really cool, it helps with research for diseases and things like that by using your computer to do it in a program, you can dedicate hardware for it, you can even use your phone, it's not a hacking tool or anything as Stanford University made it.

I have F@H, it's nice to be able to turn your laptop into a flamethrower on command  :fox-:P:. Seriously though, I let it run every night. Slow progress, but progress. I haven't seen anything here about a team though.

Yeah it does, it's a program that utilizes your processor and/or graphics card and it does research for cancer, Alzheimers, and a i think another disease, teams on it make it a fun type of competition it is also on android.

Why does it need our computer stuff?? This seems shady
Like aren't they already doing research ?
I don't know something that like controls hardware on a computer seems shady, sorry.
Especially since its not like an official company its a college
I think I'll just stick to donating money directly to the research

It's not as shady as it sounds. It's a good alternative to donating since its free

It's not shady in the right hands.

Basically all they are asking your computer is to do some calculations for them so they can have more processing power overall instead of being restricted to the university's computers. While they do have some powerful computers there, it still will help speed up this research faster if people can contribute their computer power during off hours.

Also Stanford is one of them most respected universities and i'd trust them with my stuff more than most companies.
