24 hours without electronics Challenge:
« on: April 08, 2017, 11:50:21 pm »
This was mainly for a thing in language arts for me but I did it a bit for fun too. I don't think many teens go without technology willingly. IT's always a punishment but I did it willingly XD

it's really simple. Turn off your phone, computer, and TV, Any music devices, and put them somewhere where you won't be tempted to use them.

You can do anything so long as you don't use your computer or get online. The idea is to try and get through this over 24 hours. If you want to you can record this all in a journal. (which I did because it was also an experiment)

If you make it- Yay! Now enjoy how weird it feels to get back online and see the world just kept going without you. If you don't... well you tried... record how many hours you were able to make it.

So I started at 8PM yesturday and ended at 8PM today and I made it :D I actually wasn't too bored either. I just read, drew, played piano and such. Went on a walk, went to the library. I wasn't really worrying too much about what was going on online.
Now when I came back online later it felt weird... Lots of stuff to read it kidna was overwhelming for a bit.

Oh, I've done this before.

I really think I should try it again though. I have some things I really need to get done, plus I kinda forgot the outside world existed :fox-:P:

It really is amazing how fast the world moves nowadays with the internet. Before it existed things were much slower.

I kinda wish I could do that :0 I'd likely get poor marks in class though-- almost my entire major is based around using tech omg

Sounds liberating though!

This is a normal day for me when I'm reading an interesting book. I didn't put any novel of the Foundation down until I finished them, and then I just picked up the next book. About 15 hours reading (and of course breathing, eating, and drinking water), and then 9 hours sleeping. That is often perfectly normal for me.

I do that all the time when I go camping, and I used to do it for a whole week every summer, because my summer camp didn't allow electronics

I don't have the willpower to do this but when I'm at camp and stuff and away from my electronics it always feels great! That feeling only lasts a couple days though (2-3) then I get really anxious that I'm missing out. This is the main reason why I had such a hard time on my Europe trip. The leaders were so "anti electronics" that they would take away activities from us if they caught us on our cellphones and would never give us the free hotel wifi passwords (despite the fact they were on their electronics??). It's definitely a good challenge to try ^^ I personally don't have an issue with everyday electronic use as long as it's used moderately

I could never do this willingly, I rely on technology too much even when it comes to drawing I always draw on my laptop not on paper(cause its cheaper) and if I'm really bored I play games or occasionally talk to friends which also requires my laptop cause I have no life outside the internet.
I'd only ever do this if I knew I had something to occupy my time and reading books just aint it, more like if I went camping or something(cause whats the fun in camping if your gonna use technology anyway :P)

I know I can't. I'm too used to my LG smartwatch being on my wrist that I'd go insane
